I use the original LePaul wallet (which, interestingly enough, apparently he did not originate). I use the Jennings idea of turning the flaps up and use using the pen to keep the opening accessible, if you know what I mean.

I've never tried any other wallet type, the LePaul works fine for me. Just a simple top palm and a logical reason to go for the wallet, and you can work miracles.

To clarify, I use Vernon's Topping the Deck top palm to steal the signed selection into my right hand as I hand the deck out to be shuffled (usually after an Ambitious Card sequence). My left hand picks up the pen that the spectator used to originally sign the card (pen is on table), transfers it to my right hand. Right hand then dumps the pen and loads the card, and removes wallet, claiming that I will bet all my money that I can find the signed card even if spectator shuffles the deck. Place wallet on table or casually give it to someone to hold it. After some byplay with spectators' shuffling ability or lack thereof, feint failure in finding the card. Using time misdirection is key here as many spectators will not remember that you placed the wallet on the table after the card was selected. You want them to remember that the wallet was on the table from the start. Retrieve wallet from table (which has been in full view for a long time now). State that the wallet has been in full view since the beginning of the effect (e.g. lie) and reveal the signed card in the envelope in the zippered compartment stating that it's easy to find the card when you keep it in your wallet. Very powerful.

Is this too detailed for the public posting area?

Kevin

Does the wallet have a slide type load?

Nope, I believe you are describing the Kaps-type wallet. Mine doesn't have a slide, just flaps. Note that the Kaps type wallet does enable some effects not possible with the LePaul wallet. Ortiz's powerful Dream Card effect comes to mind where a spectator freely selects, say, a red-backed 7H and signs it on the face. The magician recounts a dream about this very trick, this very moment in time, and reveals the same signed 7H from a sealed envelope in his wallet, except that it has a blue back. Card is examinable and makes a cool souvenir for the spectator. Very cool. Jim Swain has a similar effect called the "Airmail Card" that does not require the Kaps slide mechanism in the wallet. Check them out. Neither use gaffed cards.

I am looking to spend around £50 on a wallet but am totally unsure of which to buy. So thought I'd try & bring this topic up again.

I currently own the thought transmitter wallet, neat little idea but not happy with the tiny viewing area & also doesn't resemble that realistic wallet in it's layout. Anyway...

Do peek wallets work along this line?

I'm confused over wallets where no palming is required. Thus you
Force a card, have it face down on top of the deck, place the wallet on it & it loads???
I'm not comfortable with palming yet & if I can get away with not doing it at all then great. I also wanna peek facility.
Mind Spy seems to be the only one I can find that offeres these things, anyone know of some others?

I've always liked and used Stealth and never been caught till the last time and then again the very next time.
I always thought it was obvious but tried it and found it flew past people. But it seems, not always.
Just as an aside, if they catch you, they don't absolutely know for sure, they see what you do and guess and your in no position to prove them wrong.

I recommend the wallets made by Jerry O'Connell.

They're not cheap but are very good quality ones, and he has a big selection. If you have any queries he is very helpful.
