Is the rose examinable afterwards or would you need to do some knid of swap.

Not examinable at all! It's a swift effect and you have to do something with the rose afterwards asap and even a swift glance would show how it works. Normally that would be concealed in the hand and not seen. You could get away with sticking it in your buttonhole, or perhaps another way would be to park it on your lovely assistant so she can go off stage and ditch it? And if you don't have an L.A. then park it on a bit of scenery, under the table, in a box or wherever!
