Chameleon Card Trick, Max Magic on Sky One

Postby dat8962 » Oct 28th, '04, 19:00

I watched Max Magic in the early hours of this morning and saw a card trick that used a car printed with a chameleon picture on the face.

When other cards were rubbed up against this picture card, the chameleon took on the appearance of the card it had just come into contact with.

The routing had double backed cards, all chameleon faces and then images of fingers printed across the backs to reflect where than handler had been holding the deck and the cards had copied their imprint.

Has anyone else seen this or even better, does anyone know the name of the deck/ trick and where it can be purchased from?

The Loony Bin in Armley, Leeds sells it, but it cost around £38, not sure whether thats a good deal or not though, knowing the prices of his other stock!

I thought I was the only one with insomnia! I was more impressed with the Pizza trick - customer's pizza in a box was placed on the shop counter in full view, customer takes deck of cards, shuffles, selects and memorizes random card. After 3 failed attempts to divine the card, pizza magician gives in and asks customer to check pizza - which has the right card picked out on the pizza in pepperoni or olives!

The psychic piano is a brilliant concept as well.

Mandrake

I thought that this was an easy one to do, you just needed to force the card that matches what you've baked into the Pizza. Not difficult but it was / is effective.

I wonder now that Asda sell Bicycle cards if they will do a ten of hearts pizza on the make your own counter?

Have you seen the JB trick 'on the case'? This uses a similar force but a very ingenious way of revealing the forced card on a gimmicked spectacle case. Very neat and I've found this a popular one with the spectators!

Have you got a web address or phone number for the Loony Bin Boy Wonder?

I know what you mean about prices - I bought Daryl's ultimate ambition off the web when I was starting out and it cost around £12.00. I saw it in a magic shop earlier this week for £45. I was stunned at the price, particularly as I have never used it as I wasn't convinced with the gimmick.

you just needed to force the card
Yup easy peasy but, as I recall the effect, only the spec handled the cards, shuffled and selected - rather difficult to force unless a one-way is used and subsequently switched so all the wrong and indifferent cards could be shown. I wish I'd recorded it now but I guess the program was edited so the subtleties were unseen! (Afterthought: If t'other Mods feel this posting is a bit too revealing, then by all means please trim to suit!)

I have On The Case and it's beaut! As I wear specs anyway it fits in with reality and I use a method of 'assisting' the spectator to choose the right card which works well and gives them a further choice of cards after the cut - all very fair indeed!

Thanks for the replies and I've now sourced two possible versions, although I'm not quite sure if both of these are actually the same as each other or the same as the one seen on TV.

Both are called 'The Chameleon Card' but one is £39.00 and the other is £12.00. A big difference if they both turn out to actually be the same effect!

Still doing more research before I buy as I want to make sure that I'm not buying something totally different to what I saw and want!

Thanks again!!!

First, thank to those who replied as I've now got a Chameleon deck for £12 from World Magic Shop. I've not yet watched the accompanying DVD so I don't know if it's the same as what I originally saw on TV but I'll post a review in a few days time once I've had a good play.

It doesn't have the finger/thumb prints on the backs of the cards as seen but this may be a further development. Time will tell.

Incidentally, the credit for this deck is given to one Chris Jones (a.k.a. Seige). Is this the same Seige who's a Moderator?

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

Iy has been reviewed already. I think Happy Toad did the honours. It's a nice little effect, actually it is several nice little effects.

I'm impressed! Good one Seige but I won't review again, knowing it's been reviewed already.

I think that I'm going to have to save up and buy the £39.00 version by Dominique Duvivier too, unless anyone can tell me that it's not the one that I'm looking for?
