You're a snob. But hey, so am I. Just not with cards. Talk to me about music or food and you'll hate me. :D

i already AM a member of an exclusive mentalist's club..but its not elitest...

big difference..

And, i don't need to talk to you about music or food to hate you farlsey

*that was a joke before anyone complains*

If you think about it - if i produce an attractive money clip, pen or even a deck of cards - some people will go "oooh, isn't that nice...are these? are these expensive? they MUST be..."

so indirectly - you are displaying something that is not elitist, but classy and appealing...therefore people will pay more attention, be more interested in what you are about to do...and thats before you've even opened your pie-hole or done anything...

its like if you walk into someone's office -they have a very comfy leather chair for you, the smell of rich freshly brewed coffee in the air...an interesting item or two in the background, a painting...

you automatically think "oooh...this is a bit posh..this is a classy joint..."

or potentially "perfumed ponce!"...either way, you have their attention...

I couldn't find anything on Google, but a quick two minutes with Paint and I came up with this...

I may have got it slightly wrong; it's been a while since I last saw the cards. Iain will correct me, I'm sure. They do look the business, though.

Are they bronze trimmed or gold trimmed Tally Ho Cards? Because I just found this image on an ebay auction:

bronze/gold - all the same to me...

i think i bought up the entire stock of them from cards4magic - they have them in red still i think, but they may have restocked...

if you wanna see some real fancy cards, search for Massa Linen Finish Casino Playing Cards...kinda 60s and wierd! i like 'em....

According to a seller on eBay, there were only 2,000 gold-trimmed Tally decks produced. I reckon Iain has the lot.

if they had enough in stock, i'd buy these too:

beautiful...

as for the tally's...i've just counted, i have 26 decks of them...

to add to my snobbery, i don't even use bike seconds for practice - part stupidity, part obstinance...

these are interesting too

Those Massa Linen Finish Casino Playing Cards look really nice if these are what you are talking about:

You can use those when performing on the sun...ludicrous.

I stand by my standard bikes. I don't want to touch my circle back Tallys, never mind use them for Torn!

IAIN wrote:ESP cards - are they Royal or Vernet? can't remember, with the stars on the back design? Awful! i feel sickened even thinking of them. How can you seriously show a display of ESP and then show these overly magical back designs? Would Dr. Rhine REALLY have said "ooh you know what we're missing lads? more STARS!"

I take it that you've never seen a set of the genuine article! I was fortunate enough to get a set some years ago, before they went out of print, ant they have the star design on the back. The only real differences are that the Royal ones are marked, and have a white border, instead of dark blue.

If I could get more fakes/gimmicked decks in my chosen back design, I'd probably not use Bikes. That's not because I want to be different, but like Iain, I don't care for the chubby cherubs.

In that case, Dr. Rhine - you've gone down in my estimations! :D
