Psychic ordered to 'tone down' leaflets

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1087823/Did-coming-Clairvoyant-healer-banned-making-impossible-prove-cure-claims-ad-watchdog.html

I did find it somewhat amusing that the contact made with the woman came "out of the blue" for her.Reminds me of that "clarevoyants convention cancelled due to unforseen circumstances" headline.

Could somebody enlighten me about the ladys crystal ball , It looks to me like its a goldfish bowl turned upside down :? The ones i have seen seem to be more dense when looking through them and not like glass as this ladys seem to be!

Good. 100% accuracy, how ridiculous.

Even the Old Testament tells you that no one (except the chosen people of course) is 100% accurate e.g. magicians/mentalist must be the chosen people.

The claim of "healing" witchcraft makes little sense but sadly, the idea of removing curses, hexes, bad luck, etc. is a very old con that goes back centuries. You can get a solid glimpse as to how it all works by reading Anna Riva's BLACK & WHITE MAGICK -- it's a classic to the witchcraft/ gypsy game... but then Anna was the self-proclaimed successor to Ms. MARIE LAVEAU (of which, there was mother & daughter, the latter of which died in the early 20th century, never living up to mommies reputation)

I'm presently involved in an investigation on a local psychic who has been using some of these very same ploys; what is legally seen as "Larceny". Sadly, the predators from within this trade have learned how to hide behind religious rights in order to elude legal action. Here in the U.S. the laws vary not just from state to state but in some instances, city to city. The hustlers know this and seek out "safe zones" from which to operate. Our current "mark" owning a huge complex in the middle of downtown Noho (easily worth over 2 million in US dollars) and charges over $1,000.00 for the same computer generated chart anyone else can create given the software. Just a Tarot Card Reading averages $50.00 for 15 minutes and she whines about that being lowering than she wants to charge.

Not to go too far off topic, but I love this particular sting in that this woman believes me to be "just another Reader" from the region. She has no idea, the fact that she has one seriously educated "magician" on her tale that's being assisted by none other than Simon Lovel's ex-wife (who is also a Reader here in town).

Stings of this sort take time. Not only do you have to build up trust between you and the mark, you need to make certain that the authorities are in position for witnessing the dirty deed or "deeds" in this case, so as to make an official bust. Thus far we've only been able to embarrass her with a couple of Newspaper articles featuring testimonials by her patrons that were taken for tens of thousands of dollars in a curse removal scam.

I realize that many within the magic world loathe any kind of Reader. As one that actually is a Reader and has supplemented his income on and off for decades as such, I can tell you first hand that there is a huge difference between the typical Reader and predators of this sort. I will also state that most legit Readers will bend over backwards in helping authorities bust the scam artist in that such people hurt their business.

Legit Readers do not go into the Healing or Curse removal game... at least not for profit. I have conducted such rituals a few times but no money every exchanges hand. Same goes for some of the "Psychic Investigation" work I've done on car theft rings and missing people (do bear in mind that Kreskin and numerous others have and do, do the very same things).

My point is, NOT ALL READERS/PSYCHICS ARE LIKE THIS.

She should have said she has a "high success rate" or words to that effect. To claim a 100% success rate is ridiculous and just asking for trouble. And yes, I think her crystal ball looks suspiciously like a hollow glass bowl that could easily be used to house a small family of goldfish. But I could be wrong.

In the 'Metro' paper yesterday was a very very similar advert. The person claimed to remove 'any' problems in your life including making your husband/wife come back to you if they had 'walked' (??) It also advertised the removal of curses ect. Unsuprisingly the advert only had a mobile number, not a land line

Sister Charlotte really is making extravagant claims. Most of the psychics
in Toronto who put out similar leaflets only claim 98% or 99%
accuracy.

I am a terribly modest type as everyone knows and only claim 70% accuracy. However I never put it on my leaflet.

I have a very good leaflet which was drawn up by lawyers who some would argue are more crooked than certain psychics. I have always said that 99% of lawyers give the rest a bad name.

Many psychics are sincere individuals who can help but many are pretty nasty characters. This business is not terribly regulated. For example the psychic mentioned by lozey will be as bent as a 12 pound note.

Red flags should always go up when they advertise that they will reunite lost lovers and remove curses. The police should ALWAYS send in an undercover officer to have a reading when they see ads like that. They should have a secret tape recording of what goes on.

Of course the police can't be bothered and they will say they have higher priorities. However these people are vampires who suck the blood of vulnerable people. I haven't time to go into the actual scam that will take place but it will involve the poor victim being scammed over a long period of time for as much money as can be garnered. Often thousands of pounds over a period. People who come into see a psychic are vulnerable and desperate and not thinking straight. They will be easy to con.

How do you know if a psychic is on the up and up? Ask if they provide a tape of the reading or alternatively if they will allow you to tape. If they come up with some mumbo jumbo about the electricity affecting the vibrations walk out the door. If they claim to remove curses walk out the door. If they say they will re-unite you with your lost love walk out the door. If they say 98% accuracy walk out the door.

Avoid the gypsy type psychics. In the UK they are actually all Italians but don't say I told you.

You will generally find the more reputable readers at psychic fairs. The fairs don't want the crooks and won't let them exhibit. You might get a crappy reading but you won't be the victim of fraud.

Actually it may surprise you all to know that fortune telling is quite illegal in Britain and has been for years. However it is a law that isn't enforced. If it were there would be a lot of seaside fortune tellers that would be out of business.

Oh and the seaside fortune tellers are usually a bunch of crooks. I should know since I used to talk to them about their mischief.

Personally I think psychic reading should be banned and the ban should be enforced. All except for me of course.

I wish I was a medium just so I could tell everyone they're going to die a horrible death

Someone should parody that photograph except with her "crystal ball" filled with water and fish or at least photoshop some fish in

In the Telegraph article she was quoted as saying she feels justified in claiming 100 per cent success because if anyone is dissatisfied she returns their money. So all the payers are 100 per cent satisfied.

But the Telegraph article didn't have that fantastic photo!

What, you mean like this?

Image

It's a hack photoshop job, but good enough for the joke.

Funnily enough, if you look at the original picture there does seem to be a horizontal "water line" in the bowl. I used the same level as my water line.
