Afternoon all..

Firstly Id like to offend everyone by mentioning I now have 6 weeks off work over Christmas time after a long hard time at work!!!

So be preparede to be bored by postngs by my good self (if I do say so my self!!)

Anyways, down to my problem, does anyoen have any tips for getting more oomph to the coin in the Strike Vanish?

I have the fundementals, but am getting no further after 6/7 weeks of practicing this move..Any tips would be appreciated!

best advice i can give is from mr sankey himself, not the origionator, don't try to throw rather move the hand down and let it hang in mid air.
you know the rest of the move so won't expose anything else on open forum.

I second magicdiscoman's advice...

However, how and when are you using it? I have never had any luck with it as a stand alone vanish, but when done and timed into a routine, I have never been called on it....so would be curious as to if you are just making it "the effect" or are you using it effect/routine.

Get Dave Williamson's Magic Farm DVD which, in addition to lots of great usable magic has a lesson on the Striking Vanish from the man himself (it's not a Sankey move, as may be inferred from the posts above).

i second that..Mr Williamson is the creator and therefore the best reference.
Tilting the wrist and not throwing the coin is essential. i learnt it from Greg Wilson's on the spot DVD.

It should be smooth not jerky and fast.
That's going into innuendo bingo isn't it ha ha ha

Ill look into the On the Spot DVD and take heed of the tips! Im a big fan of Greg Wilson too, so it may be on the Xmas list...

Im using it as part of a 4 phase coin routine im working on, and its an early stage, not that anyone has seen it yet (thank god!)

Its a mini coins accross to coin under watch, a strike vanish to coin to specs pocket...May have it finished by this time next year! Argh!!!

If I can offer a personal tip, whatever you are using to do the actual "strike" make sure it isn't too heavy. That way your vanishing hand does not need to worry about maintaing grip on it, and can be focused solely on the vanish itself.
