English?

Postby Gary Dickson » Nov 30th, '08, 10:41

I've noticed a strange phenomena. When I type perfectly good English words in here, I'm told they're incorrectly spelt. The word spelt, being a case in point.

Are we all meant to be typing in American?

I think it's the spell checker in your browser.

This is the centre. This is the center.

Hmmm, I changed the language to English-gb but my browser is still insisting I spell it the American way.

I use Firefox, went to Tools - options - content - choose languages.

Am I being really dense and missing something? Actually, I am, I think. That option is for displaying pages.

Sometimes I do wish I was tech head!

I'm having firefox spellchecker problems myself; it doesn't seem to work at all on my new laptop with vista. I've tried new dictionaries and all sorts, but it claims it's checking my spelling but doesn't correct me when I mistype.

I thought that might be the case, but hoped someone else might have had a cunning fix!
