After being inspired by Ricky...

Postby Nowah » Dec 1st, '08, 00:46

Seeing I' m specializing myself into card magic, it's only obvious that Ricky jay is my big idol.

Inspired by one of his tricks where he keeps calling aces, I've used my own ways to produce 4 aces.

Now please know that I don't know all the names of the shuffles. If you know them, please let me know, haha.

So at first I show the audience I really do have 4 aces and let them run through the deck to show them I really only have 4.

I put the aces one by one into the pack, but not entirely in just to show the audience that they're still there. I jog them in and with with a few cuts I produce the first ace. I do some riffles, keep the crowd warm by making some jokes and produce the 2nd.
For the 3rd I decided to produce it by waving over the deck and snapping out the 3rd ace on the table.
I'll say; "You guys have probably seen this millions of times, performed by other magicians, so you guys must be as bored as hell! How about I add some spice to it?" and I produce a 4th ace, place it back into the pack but face up and wave over the pack, only to find the same ace on top again.

It's a trick that takes less than 2 minutes.

I'm sorry if I'm wrong, but I didn't find anything in you're post suggesting "supports and tips." Was there something about the routine you were questioning? Was there something you wanted us to reply on?

If you were wondering what people think of the routine, I think it sounds fine. You seem to have thought it through a bit. The only thing I have to say is consider adding some more patter. Perhaps suggesting what's happening. That's all.

Best Regards,

 -Ben

Not that Ive seen your effects, but as a way to push your productions on a bit, if you know how to control your cards, look up "Erdnase Productions".

There are some on the Ben Earl Past Midnight DVD, and thery certainly add a bit of zest to a simple production..

Other than that, the groundwork is there and keep plugging away!

Haha, yes, my apologies. I was really asking what you lads thought of my routine and I'm glad you guys like it.

Thanks for the tips, too. :D
