Godiva is real chocolate or so I've been told. I'm quite happy with Dairy Milk though and can't appreciate the difference though I have tried it

Such wonderous events take place?

Of all the possible permutations of three words in the English language, the above is surely the second greatest of them all....
In case you're wondering, its second to "chocolate coated women"

Yes. If you live in Sheffield (as a couple of TMers do), there's a chocolate shop on Ecclesall road run by a couple of slightly scruffy but very friendly young ladies who sell all sorts of delicious chocolate things, and by arrangement they can put on a tasting evening where you sit in their little parlour at the back of the shop, sipping tea and learning about the ins and outs of this heavenly confection.

It can't be the only one in the world! Indeed, a google search with the phrase "chocolate tasting" yields plenty of results. Give it a go. :D

I worked on a fair few chocolate tv commercials years ago and for one job Cadbury's sent us a real chocolate melting machine and 18 (yes 18!!!!) black dustbins full of chocolate buttons. It was irresistible... every time you walked past you had to scoop a handful (I used to fill my pockets for the tube journey home..). By the end of the week we'd eaten about 6 bins.... oops

Oh, and by the way Lommie, I hope you stayed in the gym for twice as long in order to burn off all those chocolate calories?? I reckon 30 mins at a good speed on the treadmill is about 1000cals..... so a good hour and 8 or 9 miles later should ease your guilt...

Well I did an hour of running last night which my Garmin told me was 1100 cals, I've got another hour in the gym today and then some swimming tonight so I hope that should burn it all off.

You got the little wristy Garmin Lommie?
Mine has started to switch itself on and off, and it's just out of it's guarantee. Pah!

Anyways - chocolate. Have you ever seen the 100% stuff? The Lindt version tastes like soil, but the Chocolate Society and the Hotel Chocolat versions are ace. A bar will last well over a week.

yup I sure have, it's one of the old clunky ones though not the nice sexy new ones.

I can just about manage 70% chocolate but anything more than that is way too bitter for me.

I've had the 99% stuff, that's good when you feel like an intense hit but it's not "easy eating" - you certainly feel like you've had enough chocolate after a tiny square!

Surely 100% stuff isn't chocolate, it's compressed cocoa?!

Yes that's what I thought, but it can be called 100% as long as all of the ingredients come from the cocoa bean. So that includes all of the fats like cocoa butter.

You're right mind you, it's not exactly moreish.

I don't agree with all this calorie counting you only live once after all you should eat what you want and not worry about getting fat (this coming from someone who can eat all the junk food they want and not get fat - its my metabolism)
but I can't stand dark chocolate it tastes like laxative chocolate, I love dairy milk though and dairy milk with crunchie, caramel and turkish delight but my favourite at the moment is galaxy caramel
