And evidently not very proud of it?

And more power to you, Ian the Mental-Ian for being a religious person. I'm sure you'll treat those homosexuals with all fairness and respect.

No, just feeling singled out.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I do not think you're being singled out. Apart from Lenoir's post pointing a finger at you a little. If you wish to be religious - why not! It's your life young man. Live it how you choose to. I do not approve of the religious witch-hunt we have. Christians are the easy targets these days. I don't see Dawkins tackling the Koran any time soon. The great big chicken.

Lol, wouldnt that be something? I dont blame him though, if you attack the Koran, you get attacked, no two ways about it. Christians forgive, so he's on to a winner attacking them.

S'funny though isnt it? All these agnostics/atheists, and yet we all celebrate Xmas.

While i may attack the church sometimes, i wouldnt want to upset anyone on here so my apologies if anything i may have said caused offence. Football, religion and politics are never good to discuss either in a pub, or on a forum.

Magicians aren't as sceptical as you might think. I have been constantly amazed at the amount of magicians who are very open to psychic and new age belief systems. Before I became involved in psychic work I used to assume that magicians were all like Randi who considers it all bunkum. I was quite surprised to find that it wasn't the case at all.

well I AM offended by the very last point in the Derren Brown quote. '..a homosexual with his own agenda..'?

I was enjoying reading the thread until this ugly phrase cropped up.

If this IS Alter's own text then I hope any new philosophy he embraces shows him why it's a naff thing to say. If it's not his, well I'm still dubious about even requoting it (even though I've requoted it). Not too sure how I feel about a ban on it though.

Whatever.

I believe in God too. And life after death. Recently been devouring "The Teachings of Abraham" by Esther & Jerry Hicks. And liking it.

Alter the above paragraph you put in quotation marks in your initial post. Whose words are they originally?

You will find those remarks to be remarks which were an opinion of mine in the past. They are the remarks of a former me.

I would just like to say that they are NOT my opinions right now and i do not endorse them. Altho i am right in saying he doesnt have to justify anything to anybody. He could easily say something is using subconscious communication and it really be just some kind of normal trick with a psychological presentation.

As for my belief in god... i do call myself an atheist now.. altho i guess its not strictly true.

The universe is something physical... it had to have come from somewhere. I can never buy the idea that NOTHING existed... got hot then EXPLODED into existence.

I can buy the pantheist style idea (or new age idea) that everything the universe is made of at the deepest level is connected and part of "god" including ourself. This would make sense if you say everything has always existed in some form or another and it just goes around in cycles (like everything in life).

I can also buy the POSSIBILITY of some sort of force outside of space and time which caused the creation (big bang) of the universe. But i dont believe this force needs to be worshipped or has anything to do with any religion (if its even there).

I have one more comment to make on my "derren brown: the homosexual with his own agenda". My logic (when i believed that) was pretty simple. Derren is a critic of religion, especially fundementalist groups of religious people. These groups are usually very outspoken about homosexuality. It is natural for Derren as a homosexual / bisexual (i dont know) man to want to lash back out at these morons.

I was never against homosexuality, nor was i a fundementalist. But i still thought he might be defending his own agenda etc... by attacking all religion.

Sorry if i caused anybody any offense.

Dunno about the rest of you but I think this thread has reached the end of the useful line so before it goes off course, as so many others on similar topics have done, let's draw an understanding and peaceful line right here....
