PK Rings

Postby yddraig » Dec 1st, '08, 10:01

Hi

Looking to invest in a PK ring (and associated DVD) and got it down to 2, the Wizard and the Vortex. I've seen plenty about the Wizard but nothing here about the Vortex, has anyone done a comparison or even a review on it? Tried to search the forum but to no avail, the Wizard's been around for longer and so I expect the G2 to have the advantage but is the Vortex better being fresher and new or should I trust the experience but into the Wizard? So, please, if anyone has any advice, Wizard G2 or Vortex.....

Thank you in advance

Graeme

I have the wizard g2, get the rounded band style and you cant really go wrong.

Mine has lasted a long time and i wear it as a regular ring it has come in handy so many times.

This is the site I use for PK Rings. Although American, and not a site exclusively for magicians, my order came (to my London address) in 7 days and I received emails at every stage of order processing which leant a certain piece of mind.

http://www.supermagnetman.net

They do an extra powerful N50 strength ring.

I have to thank Rick from Outlaw for pointing out this site to me.

yeah, that's the best site I've found.

Make sure you get the ring with the magnet going through the diameter as they do two types.

I would stick with the original and best quality rings on the market.

Give us a call at World Magic Shop and we will send you a free pk ring DVD as well :)

No offence meant by this but I wasn't too impressed with the DVD. It seemed thrown together & quite poor quality considering it's not that difficult to make half decent videos these days. For a beginner it will suggest some ideas & handling but if you're interested in the ring then you will already have some idea on how you would utilise it.

I agree. The material is OK for beginners to the PK Ring, but it appears to have been very lazily put together and has an amateur feel to it.

Well what can i say apart from the DVD wasnt supposed to be released but has sold nearly 4000 units and dealers are still selling it. For people that cannot come up with ideas, it shoudnt put them off.

yddraig you dont whant to purchase the Wiz. ill give you one free, spend your money on something you will use.

I bought 2 PK rings from WMS (one gold - one silver) and they've been fine for just about everything that I've used them with.

I didn't buy the DVD so can't comment but I would certainly recommend the rings. In terms of the price you pay for other things these days, my personal view is that the Wizzard PK offers good value on the basis that you need one and it's not a CUPS purchase.

Another point about the wizard is the size of the rings. I have monster size fingers that are something like 3Z in size. I still managed to get a Wizard PK from stock at WMS that fit.

You can't knock the rings, strong enough to perform great effects with, not too strong that they kill your credit cards & phone. You could be armed up to the teath with just this, a Time Machine watch & Kenton Knepper's Kolossal Killer in your wallet. All seemingly impromptu miracles.

Hi Costas, cheers.
Order phoned in Sat afternoon, was helped by a friendly and helpful bloke (Costas gets a day off too!) and managed to add Aquarius to my growing kit too. All with my biggest critic running around my feet, my 2 year old lad, now I need something to entertain him. Anyone got any ideas of something magical that will appeal and be understood by a toddler, he was the main reason I rekindled my interest in magic in the first place, teach him not to believe his eyes as he grows up. But does anyone have the same problem as me, because he has no preconceptions of what’s possible he takes vanishing coins, bending coins and colour changing cards in his stride and fails to be impressed by anything less than a chocolate button or Thomas the Tank! Ah well.

Just arrived, but it's been squirreled away before I got my hands on it. Thank you once again. If I can add one thing to the pot, before I posted this I seriously considered getting the Vortex but despite sending not one but two e-mails, I never received a reply, surely not a promising sign if anyone is thinking of investing their hard earned. Now that the transaction is over and there can be no calls of foul play and trying to get a better deal,I can safely say that the service from Costas and his staff has been exemplary and I would like to publicly thank them all and wish you a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

I remember reading some interesting articles on child psychology and one of the things that I remember was that upto about the age of 2 children have no real notion of anything other than what they can see that that particular moment. When something goes out of view, as far as their concerned it no longer exists.

It's only as they get older they start to realise that things are there even if they can't see them anymore and that's when they start looking for things and expecting it to be there.

That makes sense Lady of Mystery, he's been starting to hide things recently and then gets us to find them in a treasure hunt style. Did think of the old coin in ear but was soon told by Mrs Draig that coins, toddlers and orifices do not make a good combination, similar results found with coin through invisible hole in pocket saw him trying to recreate the effect with his own pocket, a button and a sharp pencil!!! But you see my dilemma now, appearing things are a no no, colour appearing in books are dangerous in a home with lots of our books and a toddler armed with crayons, same sort of danger with colour changes and cards (last night was "...black phone changed into red phone.." with the aid of tomato sauce, lucky it was a toy phone, near miss). May have to leave it a year or so. :(
