Tomo wrote:Have you seen Mark Thomas' DVD "Serious Organised Criminal"? It's an absolute hoot, but it also makes a very important point and it goes about it in a very interesting way. I loved the idea of Winston Churchill's spirit being channelled by a psychic and given permission to protest in Parliament Square

Maybe it's like Eric Morecambe said; you don't need to be depressing to make a serious point.
I didn't even realise there was a DVD available.
I'll be telling Santa about this one!

2. Billy Connelly
3. Roy Chubby Brown
4. Lee Evans
5. Peter Kay
6. Jimmy Carr
Im not really a big fan of "ethnic" comedians. Basically theres only so many jokes you can listen to about "not been white" and how "your different from white people".
Racial stereotyping is only allowed in comedy now if your not white.
Russell Peters (brilliant comedian) is a prime example of this. Every joke he makes is about race.
Can you imagine Russell Brand or someone who was white pretending to be indian? or chinese? They would not get away with it these days.

I really like Bill Bailey, we went to see him a couple of years ago and when I left my jaw was aching from laughing too much.

Neil Hamburger is one of the funniest comics working today, but he's also deeply,
deeply offensive. Not racist or sexist, just very bad taste. That's the point. They're jokes you stop yourself laughing at because you're not supposed to. Jimmy Carr's creepy, alcoholic American uncle, perhaps?
Anyone heard of Daniel Kitson?

Quite a while ago now we went to see Dave Allan live on stage. My God, what a night that was. Nothing on stage but a man, a chair, and a microphone for two or three hours. Nobody in the audience wanted it to end -- we would have kept him up there all night if we could. Sheer muscular agony from laughing so much.
