Rope to silk advice please

Postby Miles More Magic » Dec 18th, '08, 07:50

Some background on how I want to use it may be useful, so here goes:

After reading advice on here, I decided that I would quickly go through the "rules" at the start of a show. I intended to come on with a piece of rope over each hand, explaining that they need to stay in their seats and pay attention during the show, as the magic can happen very FAST. On the word '"fast" I would do a one handed knot in each hand, which would hopefully make the point.

I am sure I can still get the same point across, but make it more fun at the same time. I intend to get one, one handed knot done, but mess up the second one. ( Which will be the rope to silk.) Try a couple of times, before screwing it up in my hands and throwing it away, with it turning into a silk, seemingly as it flys through the air.

Now the questions.

Does a rope to silk hang in the same way as a normal rope?

I have been "banned" from using white rope, unless I have to, but could only see white rope for the rope to silk, unless anybody knows differently?

I have seen colour changing rope to silk, so again, does this hang in the same way as a normal rope?

Thanks.

The rope to silk gimmick does appear to be a normal piece of rope but due to the MO you would not be able to tie a one handed knot in it. You need both hands to make the rope turn into a silk and would not be able to throw the silk and have it change in the air. The silk would fall like a brick and more than likely tip the gaff.
The rope to silk is available in different colours - mine is a black rope with a pink silk.
I can't comment on the colour changing version though as this is something I neither own or am familiar with.
