Gadabout Coins

Postby bamforth » Dec 18th, '08, 12:39

Hi all, I've been reading Michael Jay's excellent guide to working through Bobo's MCM. Thanks a lot for such a great resource Mike :)

So I'm working on The Gadabout Coins, and while there has been some discussion in another post about the click pass, I wondered if anyone had any advice regarding disposing of the coins at the end of the trick?

More specifically, how do you drop three coins in your pocket without them clinking and giving the game away?

Thanks,

Ben

To be honest I wouldn't even worry about it, I've been doing this one for ages and people don't even notice the click.

It might be a good idea to have some change already in your pocket so that when you put the coin into your pocket for the first couple of times they'll hear it jingle on the others in there. That way when you come to finish, the jingling isn't going to be anything new.

Dirty DAvey took the words out of my mouth (ew, that's unsanitary!).

Also, don't drop the coins; lay them in the pocket.

I realise 3 coins may be a bit many, but what about some kind of holding device? Tenko has shown me the light regarding making your own coin holder for any gaff coin tricks; it can be made in such a way that they're always accessible, they don't talk, and they even reset as you put them in your pocket (specifically hopping halves).

I realise it's not a gaff coin trick you're doing, but some sort of thin cardboard contraption, or a little felt pocket stiffened with some board or something, to slide them into, would reduce noise and keep them ready for action.

Thanks for all the replies.

I agree that having some change in the pocket will help.

Also, I'll read up on making a coin holder, thanks Farlsborough.
