Hi guys,

Just seen this topic. It took me FOREVER to produce a block of ice, believe it or not it took about a month of planning! We tried about 5 or 6 different ways to do it, but each one broke.

The block we used for ITV was created in 2 halves using 2 Tupperware boxes the same size. To get the ice clear was very hard work. To do so we boiled water a few times over to get the water pure so the ice is as clear as possible.

When both halves were frozen, we sandwiched them together with a card between the halves. We then got crushed ice and filled in the cracks. We then put it on a baking tray and back into the freezer for a few more days.

The day of filming was hard work in regards to transporting the ice and keeping it frozen. We transported it in a box polystyrene box, which was filled in with lots of scrunched up newspaper. We put lunchbox style ice packs into the box as well. During the day, we stored the ice in the ITV canteen industrial freezer.

Hope that helps out.
