Merry Christmas

Postby Ian The Magic-Ian » Dec 19th, '08, 14:09

Just saying Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I won't be on until the first or second of January 2009. This is partially due to a break from school and work plus I'm doing a stage show on the (31st)my birthday so I need to practice. On the first of 2009 I will be back on, or sooner...

There will be a video of my show so you can let out any excess anger you may acquire over the holidays. I'm only telling you that I'm leaving because my absence would have caused wide spread and massive damage.:P...

Talk to you all soon and have a safe and happy Christmas and New Year!

(please no bingo)
-Ian

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

 I am really stressed out right now about this show. I don't know if the audience will laugh at my random gags (not exactly random, they fit in but...) or will there be polite chuckles. I don't know if my presentation is good enough. My stage is wobbly and ready to give in, my streamer cannon thingy didn't work right I had to call off one of my main tricks... Grrrrrrr.... Does anyone else get stressed about this? How do you calm down? :x

Just in case anyone was wondering how my show was doing....

Better than I was ten days ago, I have all my effects down and practiced more so than 10 days ago and I've calmed down since than.

But... Oh yes... I still have a bunch of last minute stuff that's stressing me out. My lighting is wrong and my pyrotechnics may not work... I also need to sew a new devil's hanky because I don't have time to order a new one...

I'll try my best to get a video up if anyone's interested, It's a very "I'm new to stage magic and am trying to do everything at once, type of show" It may not appeal to you magician folk.

But, I do have a question, How close to a stage is too close for seating. I built my own stage and arranged lighting, I now have to set up chairs. Is there a recommended distance? There is an exploding lightbulb effect in there but that's about a meter and a half back from the very edge of the stage already.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as soon as possible please. :)

Distance from stage?

'tis all about the sight lines, as it's the one thing you can control from a stage.

Obviously with pyro, that's going to take precedence. Other than that, how close can you get away with?

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.
