Cyclopaedia of Magic

Postby Jordan C » Dec 28th, '08, 13:16

I have just come across on egay a copy of "Mark Wilsons Cyclopaedia of Magic".

As I have the CCIM by Mark is the Cyclopaedia also worth getting? Apparently it was published in 1997.

If you have CCIM, I wouldn't bother with the cyclopedia it's not much more than a cut down version of CCIM.

Such was my suspicion, thanks...

What's the average price for Tarbell now? Found complete course for £124.50 plus £15 p&P

Also has anyone ever bought Paul Daniels course? Always been curious ever since the early days but always felt it too pricey.

A hundred and forty pounds is considerably pricey for the Tarbell set, which should run about half that.

I agree, I managed to get a set for about £80 on a trip to the states before the value of the pound collapsed! Your price for a UK purchase sounds about right.

You can get the Tarbel Course from http://www.lybrary.com/tarbell-course-p-34.html for $39

Although it does say that it's not exactly the same as the Tarbel Course book series it says that it contains pretty much the same material. I've not got this so can't really comment on it but have been looking at it myself so would love to hear from anyone who has.

thats not the full 8 volume course. its the original, smaller course that was sent out by post.

when it comes to the tarbell, i would never , ever recomend it on disk.
Having The book in front of you, means that you read it, and discover the hidden gems. Having it on a disk, and you wont read it propperly.

Dale Shrimpton writes that a hundred and forty pounds is "about right for the full 8 volumes. peter, its impossible to find a set,(of Tarbell) at that price (the price I mentioned) in the uk. even second hand. . . ."

I stand corrected, on my side of the pond. And glad to be here, if that's indicative of prices in the UK  :!:<G>

As the vast majority of magic books and equipment come from the US, it's a lot more expensive to be a magician over here!
