I just found this site called Theory11.com
Its an awesome site, with some of the best looking cards i've ever seen-including David Blaines Split Spade designs

My request is for an effect by Wayne Houchin were you make your heart apparantly stop while a spectator checks your pulse. I was hoping someone may have any idea as to how difficult this is and if the dvd is worth the $30 they are asking.

Hi flaw07! Yes, Theory11 is an awesome site! If you go click on the search button at the top of the page, and search for Control, Im sure someone has already written a review about that great trick. My opinion, is that the effect is absolutely worth the money. It is an amazing effect. I had people thinking that I can actually stop my heartbeat. Also, there are 2 bonus effects taught- Stop by Daniel Garcia, where the spectator can actually HEAR your heartbeat slow down and stop, and also the watch stop. All these effects are impromptu, which is why I love them so much.

Oh, and Control has a little bit of angles that you might want to watch out for in it, but almost none. Stop is angle free, and the watch stop...well theres a small sleight involved. But its not that hard. And for the watch stop, I would personally reccommend the PK Ring.

Making your pulse stop is a very old trick. It can be done with something you probably have in your shed or garden. I presume they are just tarting up this old technique, as they so often do.

When you say gimmicked? There isn't many ways you can do it with out some kind of gimmick or at least a household...item.

How do you define impromtu? I guarantee you, control isn't just you standing there, stopping your pulse. I can go to any sports shop, buy something for a few "dollars and "stop" my pulse, with the spectator checking it.

Impromptu means without gimmicks.. Im not a newbie in magic dont worry.. And yes Control is just standing there, stopping your pulse. If you knew the method, you would understand. And yes..I know the method you are talking about..the one with the small round thing that can be purchased at sports stores...

So why don't you do that? You need nothing that can't be concealed in any pocket. You can even right it up to be in position all the time for a lot less the $30

i wonder if they have "borrowed" from Andrew Gerrard? He has an impromptu method...no "items" need.

Very clever, but again, very old method.

It wasn't an argument whatsoever, it was us conversing on a practical method of "stopping" your pulse!

I wish you well on finding the best method for your performance style.
