Hi,
I just thought I’d join the fun, and start by introducing myself. I have been interested in Magic since I was about 14 (20 years ago) with a Marvin Magic torn and restored card box and an Ali Bongo magic book. I then bought a number of other kids tricks, and bought Mark Wilson’s complete course in Magic. Then for no real reason I stopped trying to learn anything from the book, probably because I started to get served in pubs.
Then two years ago I got some magic balls and the needle through arm trick, and I was starting back down the road of magic, I then got the Ninja coin, the ID, labelled, relabelled and finally the dynamic coin (which I must say I love). I was about to part with some more hard earned cash and get Gecko and mixxa, however I started t read this (and other) forum, and liked the production used on Re-labelled, and though I really should try and learn some real skill, rather than self working tricks. The Mark Wilson is back out, and I’m getting back to basics. I love Derron Brown, however want to do tricks.
I have also been spending far to much time on you tube, David Stone, Tommy Wonder, the Oxy Clean coin routine, etc. and want to concentrate on learning coin and card sleight, so once Mark Wilson is complete I’ll probably get Royal Road to Card Magic and Modern Coin Magic. I also want to spend some time on good visual tricks like cups and balls & Sponge balls so I can possible do a quick magic show for my 5 year old daughters birthday in June (a scary risk I know but when ever I show kids a coin production from behind their ear they love it).
One thing that I feel the need to comment on, which I think I read else where on this forum is Jay Joshie getting a tough time on a chat show. I only show my tricks to work colleagues and young children and they always want to know how I do it, and one child always sees though how I do them, and although his bottle prodcution was a bit rubish and the card dump was nearly as bad so, I think for a pro he should have been better able to handle to situation, and the presenters were doing there job (sorry for not adding this to the correct post (if it was on this forum))
Regards
Rob
