The image of Randi being a hairless Rapunzel is lovely and hillarious, but deeply saddening.

I mean, how could his prince ever climb up to join him?

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

He could grow his beard really long?

As usual for this sort of debate, I think the answer is that it depends upon the performer, his (or her) style, the venue (and audience) and the material chosen.

Is it possible to do strolling mentalism in the 'purest' sense. I am talking about readings, dowsing and so on and perhaps some apparently very direct mind reading. Yes, both Craig and Paul have said that they do this.

Is it possible to do it in the 'trick' sense of pure mentalism. Again, I think the answer is yes, but that it is really quite hard, because you don't have the time to establish yourself and build the right mood and the belief that helps elevate the performance beyond something that is just doing a few tricks.

Is it possible to do walk-around mental magic? Most assuredly so. I think that, in many cases, this is really what is meant by 'walk-around mentalism'.

The boundaries between pure mentalism and mental magic are not clear. Some things fall very clearly on one side or the other, but there is a substantial grey area.
