Just saw a TV special from a guy called Keith Barry - never heard of him and frankly it was quite rough but he did a trick which was quite neat:

ask a person to name a friend
then activity
then pick "at random" a postcard (that was done with a very heavy hand IMHO)

then he pulls out a wallet with a sealed note which contains text with the name of friend etc... (all written as a single story)

This seems like a very classic effect but not sure which one... anyone has seen this and can help?

Forgot to add - when I say rough, I'm understating - at some stage, he does a trick for a kid by asking him to write a name on a "randomly chosen" card - he then pulls one and it is different and different name - leaves it on top of the card box, set it alight and voila, the picked card and word appear from the flames... slight mishap - there is 4H (4 of hearts, the random card) written down on the side of the card box... genius laddie!

I have locked this thread - as the one thing we don't want here is people watching TV shows and asking how things are done.

However as you do genuinely seem interested in learning magic - I have pm'd you.
