Hi all,

Does anybody have any first-hand experience with Oz Pearlman's 21st Century Phantom?

It's a close-up take on the Phantom Artist. The original was never an effect I greatly cared for, but in the close-up setting with a business card, it seems to take on a whole new level of novelty funness.

Anyone out there have experience or opinions on the effect?

I have it. I remember practicing it like a devil, and then...never using it. My own stupid fault. I must have seen something else new and shiny.

So i can tell you this, it all made sense for the "dirty business" that you need to do. And you get the props as well as a link to more so you can print them out and do what's needed.

It is indeed, a fun and unusual piece of work. I seem to remember people not being freaked out as such - just a) admiration for your cutting skills b) the general oooooooooooooooh at an unusual mind-magic effect.

Nothing earth-shattering, just strange and interesting. A nice segue into more powerful stuff and most importantly. Something in mentalism that is visual too.

I know a couple of top full time professionals that use it and swear by it. Very powerful, and a really nice business card giveaway.

Richard Bellars did a great version on the Magic Party TV Show last year, the end result was different from the one Oz uses but was equally 'iconic' !

I don't really like the effect as it's sold, the personalities are a little US centric but it wouldn't take all much to make it more British.

I reviewed this a long time ago. I really like it and its not hard to change the celebrities. I have a kids version I use with characters from TV. For adults I use Marylin Monroe, Mr T (The A-Team), and Bruce Lee among many others

I must say i love performing this,

I l love it, i think it is a great souvenir, and great fun to perform,

I have made my own black background stickers with all my details printed on it,

This is one of those effect when every time i perform this the reactions are amazing and its a nice thing to perfrom for the event booker.

yes, its like the original, but slightly different...

unless you're doing a gig, it may seem a little strange walking around with a pair of scissors in your pocket...for a guy more than a lady i suppose...

however - i've been thinking about using a set of nail clippers instead recently...

Cheers Lee, it does seem like quite a fun routine and with the small restaurant work I'm doing at the moment, potentially a nice way to leave them with a souvenir.
