Im new to magic (been learning about 2 months) and am looking to buy one of the above but with 5 to choose from i dont have a clue,

M5 from ellusionist is possibly the best quality but costs far more then the other ones although it includes equipment and notes, but is also the most convincing selling wise as it has a decent video showing what can be done and also seems to be able to do a lot more but as i only have a paper round it seems a lot to give out. Also the lack of open customer reviews is annoying on ellusionist as the rest all have people wih controversial rules

The BAT doesnt seem so impressive just making to rings join and a bit limited considering its the same price as a raven.

The Raven seems limited to coin disapearances and appearances although this seems impressive in itself and the Raven 2 seems just to be a 2 ended one which possibly makes it a lot bigger?? for a few more tricks.

And the universal Raven although with al lot of tricks I gather isnt so good as it is very difficult to conceal and clinks a lot. Also do you need the normal Raven for this trick?

Also I have been hearing that you need to wear specific clothes to use these if so what?

M5 is a tool for making things move. It's impractical for use for anything but moving objects across table surfaces and linking things. You can't use it for vanishes very well, but the effects you achieve on a table are so strong it's worth it for that alone. Most people who are disappointed by the M5 bought it to do completely different things.

The BAT has mixed reviews, I can't say anything much about it.

The Raven is used for what ravens do well in nature. It's limited to vanishes, but you can use it for transformations, too.

Raven 2 is similar but it helps you make things appear as well as disappear. Most people go for the original Raven, though.

I can't comment on the Universal Raven.

For the Ravens you need to think about what you wear. The M5 is more manageable clotheswise. But you don't need special or unusual clothes in either case, and you are bound to have what you need in your wardrobe already (unless you only wear T-shirts and shorts).

The Raven and the M5 have different applications. I use both.

OK thanks. The ellusionist website obviously over-exagerates it then but to be honest im not suprised it did seem to good.

in regards to the comment about the M5 being only used for table stuff this is simply NOT the case... with a little thought the M5 can be used for a lot of effects including a lot of "in the specs hand" stuff and also for card effects if you buy certain gimmicked cards... so to cut a long story short, if you can think outside the box the M5 is a good investment

The M5 can be worn in two main ways. One way puts it completely out of sight, the other keeps it concealed.

The mysterious magical machine known as the M5 is just over half the size of a deck of cards. It weighs 250g. If you are wearing a coat you can keep it hidden pretty well, but not under a normal shirt. The guy in the ellusionist video is wearing a coat, and to move the card he wears some kind of silly baggy shirt.

The likelihood of getting busted is rather high if you use it a lot in this way. This is why people usually don't. The M5 gets mixed reviews from people who want to be Mary Poppins and discover it works best only at mealtimes.
