Just got this and started reading last night. I'll add updates as I get further into it but a first glance looks very promising.

First off...it's a massive volume and obviously a work of huge undertaking by the authors and, of course, Stewart James - a Canadian magician whose work spans decades. At 1000+pages it's certainly not a quick read but it will look great on your bookshelf and, above all, it's got some marvellous ideas in it.

The style is fairly simple - it's in chronological order and each trick or routine is prefaced with a short introduction that explains how and/or why it was developed that way.

The very first trick is self-working and, though I was sceptical...it actually works. I won't say much other than it concerns dropping a spectator's watch from a height onto the floor!

I'll let you know more in due course
