CUtting a rope naturally

Postby John McDonald » Jan 16th, '09, 16:57

Don't laugh! I am doing Pat Page's Everlasting Rope at the moment and am having difficulty Miming cutting the rope in a convincing way. A certain something attatches to the scissors if you know what I mean.

Any tips?

Talking out of inexperience, but if you think of how you would genuinely cut a rope, you would hang it over one of the blades, or feed a blade into the loop of the rope, then pull the rope down, making it taut, and close the blades on it. Using the downward pull ought to ensure that the special something comes away from the blade. Don't forget there should be a bit of struggle in getting the blade through the rope anyway.

As I say, I've literally no experience with this, so feel free to ignore it!
