This is getting to be an epidemic!
Sir John Mortimer QC, defence council in both the OZ and Sex Pistols' obscenity trials, not to mention the creator of the superb Rumpole of the Bailey, writer of books, plays, and TV series, has died aged 85.

If anyone's interested, BBC4 is putting on a whole night of John Mortimer tonight, including Play for Today: Rumpole of the Bailey.

And spookily, this evening was scheduled prior to Mortimer resting his case.
