"Hiding your online status"

Postby Lenoir » Jan 18th, '09, 19:17

I've noticed the option on my profile to "Hide my Online status," and often see "2 hidden members" or something similar on the forum statistics. What does it do/achieve?
Is there a good reason for it?

Cheerio.

It hides you so peeps cant see your on the forum....

Many do it, couldnt tell you their reasons though ...

Occasionally i go stealthy, purely if im leaving tm on in the background and dont want to look like im always on here, when in fact im doing something else lol..

I hide my online status to stop people bugging me via PM just because they see I'm viewing the forum.

I would imagine that is the main reason why folks choose to go stealthy. Personally, I have no need to go all ninja-stylee on y'all, cos no one PMs me, anyway. I think I shall change my username to Billy (as in "no mates"). Image

Well, is there a good reason not to have it? Some people feel happier being able to observe quietly from a distance. Supposing someone discovered that a certain user name was the sainted Derren. The poor man might be pestered with PMs when all he wants is a quiet browse.
