Who says all magicians are socially maladjusted misfits, incapable of relating to or dealing with normal human beings?

What you call heroism is just an expression of this fact; there is never a scarcity of idiots

Now here comes the neurosis. I HAVE to sit in the middle of the middle of the seating otherwise it's all spoilt.
The Surround sound and view of the screen is best in that position and everywhere else is a rip off.
I find the best way of getting the perfect seat is to watch foreign language films or anything new by Woody Allen.

Re. popcorn - sorry, it's a cinema tradition. Can't ban it. My main complaint with popcorn is a) the price and b) the worsening quality... I remember when you got popcorn it was warm, buttery, sugary, crisp and soft at the same time... wonderful. Now they just haul it into the glass counters in ready-popped bin bags - it's stale and chewy before it ever went into your box.
:P

Actually, no...

ALL cinemas pop their own popcorn. Believe me , NO multiplex would be able to store the amounts needed if it was 'pre-popped'. They do then shovel it into the 'bin bags' in order to carry it from the 'popper' to the warmers at the front. Bags get 'day dotted' and are usually stored for up to 2 days before being thrown out. If you go on a busy day then you are likely to get freshly made popcorn as they will be popping the stuff all day due to high demand.

The local Vue cinema here does stupidly late showings... so until recently there was a movie night for the staff (and a few others) of the local gaming centre. After closing time at 10pm (and cleaning and stocktake), we all headed down there and went in for the 11pm showing of whatever we hadn't seen that looked good.

Rambo had, aside from our group, 14 others in a large cinema.
Cloverfield had a total of 9 people.

Bliss.

One night Mrs Grimshaw and myself went to see the Mike Leigh film ' Happy Go Lucky '.

We were the ONLY people in there.

At first i felt a pang of guilt that they were running it with just us in there, sinec it was a late showing i felt i was keeping people from knocking off early.

Then i felt i was uncool since i was watching a film that absolutely no one else wanted to see. So uncool we're cool? Maybe.

Then i stopped caring and enjoyed the fact that for one night, it felt like i had the biggest tv i'd ever watch.

Movie wasn't too bad either, but then i love Brit flicks.

Dont worry about it LOL. Even if no tickets have been sold, a film still plays to an empty screen. Thats is because someone may turn up 20-30 minutes after start time if they intentially ment to miss the adverts. Cinema movies (unless Digital) on on gigantic rolls of film, that cant simply be paused or fast-forwarded

The popcorn thing makes me sick. I just grab a bottle of my favourite drink and a bag of my favourite candy and I'm all set!

There's a lovely independent cinema near me, where they serve tea, beer, absinthe and wasabi peas, among other such delights. Plus their own open-source cola recipe.

You won't find any popcorn there :)

Your reality, sir, is lies and balderdash, and I'm delighted to say that I have no grasp of it whatsoever.

Part of the problem here is the trend towards a more selfish attitude which is encouraged by adverting. Last time I went to our local fleapit (last year!) the ad at the start of the programme reminded us all, "There's still, time to get a Pepsi from the foyer, grab yours now!", 'Grab'. Not buy or collect or any other reasonable word, just 'grab' it. Very uncivilised. Slightly off this topic but very much aligned, the current TV and radio advertising for Virgin Holidays exhorts us to 'Demand' our holiday. Not select, buy, purchase, choose, just 'Demand' it. With Charlotte Church warbling 'I want it now' in the background. Whatever happened to manners?

Anywho, back on track, as far as I'm concerned the only refreshment worthy of consuming would be genuine Butterkist and a carton of Kia-Ora - modern stuff just doesn't come anywhere near!

Have times changed with Popcorn in a multiplex?

I worked in a multiplex way back in University days and I can tell you that none was popped on site and as for it being thrown after two days? hmmmmm maybe in your chain. Was it next to the head office or something?

I remember many a time scooping that popcorn up and putting it back into the bag ready to be served up the next day and the day after and the day after etc etc etc/

There's one cinema in town that pops the stuff fresh and boy can you tell the difference! yummy
