Greetings from Bohemia

Postby kenor » Jan 20th, '09, 23:38

Hello everybody,

My name is Martin and I'm from the Czech republic. I'm into magic since my 5 or 6 years but I got into sleight of hand magic about six years ago.

I'm interested especially in the card magic. I simply love conjuring without any kind of gimmicks or gaffs, just with pure 52 (or less) cards. But I also like any other kind of micromagic, coins or whatever. I'm not very keen on the new wave of flourishes and so called XCM, especially if someone calls that magic. My favourite magician is Tommy Wonder.

Conjuring as such is not very developed in my country, so I hope I'll finally find some fellows magicians here to discuss magic and other related issues.

P.S: Sorry for my English. Hope I'll fix it with time ;)

Hi and welcome to TM  .

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

Dobrý den, Martin!

And welcome. Great to have someone from Prague here, my grandparents came from your area before they had to flee to Bavaria during WWII.

I'm still keeping up a bit with their traditions, especially my grandmom has taught me a bit of Bohemian cooking (e.g. český knedlík, which I love)... and I drive a Skoda Octavia ;)

Have fun at TM!

- Magnus

my sister in law is Czech.

:)

I wouldnt say that conjuring isnt developed, rather than it's developed along different lines.
you know, you'll be surprised just how many influencial magicians have come from the Czech republic .

for example, Petrick and Mia, and Pavel have made a huge impacts on the global magic scene.

And, lets not forget that a whole new way of doing things came from Prauge, with the black light theatre companys. :)

Thanks for welcoming me!

Le Petit Bateleur: Hello, I think that your Czech is not bad at all, I have no problem to understand you. I'm 18 and I live in Prague, but my grandparents live in Hradec Kralove, very close to Pardubice.

daleshrimpton: Of course, you're right. I didn't mean that we have no good magicians, but that there are not many local magic clubs and linking with other fellows is quite difficult.
