A really nice locking card box would be usefull.

Chris, the point of slates is they should look like old school slates.

having a metal one, would scream out magic trick. I.M.H.O. :)

( Anyway i have a metal slate in my collection. they talk like buggggery.)

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Yes i got some lovely ones off Mr Lauten....still some metal ones would be ace...they could still look like wood, but be sturdier and have far more capablity for magnetic use....

Hello all:

I just wanted to let you know that we have slightly "enhanced" the official site, www.tenyoelite.com so please have another visit.

First, there were a couple of issues with some of the pages, and some people could not see them properly. For instance please be sure to check out the "About Us" page, because there are some photos there that show our historic signing with Tenyo in New York, etc. Just use the "Continue" and "Back" buttons to navigate.

Secondly, there is now a form on the Contact Us page so that you can be added to our emailing list and be kept up to date on new products, etc.

Finally, in answer to one of the main questions, we are planning on introducing 4 to 6 products each year. What you see on the site are just the FIRST 4 that are coming out this year, and now the "Products" page reflects this with some more information.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you again for all your support.

Best regards,

I think these look good. I'd love a nicer set of the Tenyo Fortune Sticks, although I think you can get away with the plastic ones just fine.

I'll second Replicant's request for 'Eye of the Idol'. That's something crying out for a version in better materials. I remember making a decision not to buy the trick based on the way the original looked; it seemed completely at odds with the effect.

Tenyo Elite

Postby Steve Brooks » Jan 31st, '09, 23:49

Hello everyone,

So glad to see that Jason, Peter and I are not the only Tenyo fans who are excited about Tenyo Elite.

It has been almost two years since we started this venture and the fruit of our labor is finally begining to blossom.

Replicant said; "Very nice. I hope they add more items to the list"

The plan at present is to add at least four new Tenyo effects each year (possibly more).

Magic Chris said; "Please tell me you are re-releasing a Tenyo Magic Slate....with nice metal frame".

We have so many great Tenyo effects to choose from and will not only bring many of the classics into the Elite line, but a slew of effects which have not been available for some time. Will we do the Magic Slate? Only time will tell... ;)

Mandrake said; "I bought the original Blue Crystal ages ago and I reckon it's the best of the bunch above simply because it's different and the whole thing works very well indeed. The visual effect of a borrowed coin slowly sinking into a solid block of transparent blue plastic right under the spec's noses is superb".

The Blue Crystal is also one of our own personal favorites and we are extremely honored to be able to include it in our first four releases.

daleshrimpton said; "Though i have to question the logic of making soft coins. Ive never found it to be a great effect".

I personally love Soft Coins. However, believe it or not Soft Coins was not slated to be released this year (2009). However, Tenyo of Japan insisted we make an Elite edition of Soft Coins and so we have. :)

Replicant said; "Do you have any plans to release an Elite version of Eye of the Idol?"

Again, so many choices! We have actually had discussions in regards to 'Eye of the Idol' and will no doubt give this great effect some serious consideration.

Based on what I have read here and on other websites, many people do not quite understand all the reasons why we are doing these in the manner that we are.

Please keep in mind that while some folks might speculate and ponder WHY we didn't just make all these out of brass or wood, you can be sure there are many reasons.

First, though we seriously want these in the hands of collectors and performers, we also want the average guy to be able to afford to purchase the new line - that means we are limited in what we can or can't accomplish.

Keep in mind that each Tenyo Elite item is hand-made here in north America and NOT mass produced in China or Mexico. Also, Tenyo of Japan has the final say on what we can or can't release and who are we to argue?

Finally, we approach each trick on a case by case basis. For example, while wood is a great thing it is not always the best choice, especially with items which have many moving or sliding parts. Just some things to think about. ;)

We welcome the input and suggestions of Tenyo fans worldwide! We have a form that can be filled out on the Official Tenyo Elite website which will add you to our list of folks who we will keep in the loop in regards to all things Tenyo Elite!

In addition, if any of you have pages on FaceBook, we have the official Tenyo Elite Fan Page which you can be a part of and keep up with the latest.

We appreciate all your interest and support and will do our very best to try and meet everyone's high expectations. :)

Best regards - Steve Brooks

Hello all:

I just wanted to let you know that as promised, the comparison videos for the tricks are now finished and have just been posted to the official Tenyo Elite site. A direct link to the "Products" page is here: http://www.tenyoelite.com/products.php

These videos were done in response to our Tenyo Elite fans' requests. Basically people had indicated that it was difficult to gauge the differences between the original Tenyo tricks and our Elite editions, based just on the photographs and the descriptions. So we shot these videos in a very casual manner, so that you all can see how incredible these things look. However I should point out that the best way that you're going to see the differences is to actually hold them in your hands once they are in stores within the next few months.

The best way to describe how different and "elite" they are in comparison to the original plastic pieces, is to tell you a quick story from The World Magic Seminar last month in Las Vegas. The first person who I actually handed the pieces to had an incredible reaction that I feel sums it up. He sort of tipped his head back slightly as I put them in his hand, and with an excited gasp he actually said, "NOW I see what all the fuss is about!". Priceless!

Anyhow please have a look at the videos, and let us know if you have any other questions. Thank you for your time.

Best regards,

Tenyo Elite Update...

Postby Steve Brooks » Jul 19th, '09, 01:39

Well folks - here's the latest in regards to the new line.

Because of the high standards that we set for the quality of anything Tenyo Elite, we have switched to a new manufacturer. Why? Though the first few prototypes we took to Las Vegas were great - we wanted to go beyond just great, we wanted excellent.

Well, we found just the folks we were looking for and judging by the samples we have so far we are glad that we made the change. The only way these bad boys could be any better would require a layer of 14k gold. :bwink:

That said, we are almost there. Now instead of months away it is only a matter of weeks...stand by!

By the way, I know I already posted this elsewhere but for those of you who may have missed out - be sure and check out the following pages while you are cruising the Internet. :)

Tenyo Elite on FaceBook. If you have a FaceBook page be sure and become an official Tenyo Elite Fan - you can do this very easily. :bwink:

Tenyo Elite on MySpace. Those of you who have a MySpace page be sure and pay a visit and leave a friend request! We just set the page up so come one and all!

Tenyo Elite on YouTube. Our official YouTube page - again, if you have a YouTube page be sure and subscribe and add us to your friends list!

Official Tenyo Elite Website. Here you can keep up with all that is TENYO ELITE. See the products up close, watch videos and sign-up for our mailing list - Its FREE!

Thanks everyone. :)

Hello all:

I wanted to give everyone in the UK an update regarding our Tenyo Elite line. On behalf of my partners Jason Palter and Peter Loughran, I am proud to say that our first two Tenyo Elite releases (Fortune Sticks and Moonspinner) are officially in production and being manufactured as I write this letter. Our other two products (Blue Crystal and Soft Coins) will follow in a couple of months---to ensure that all our 2009 releases are out before the end of the year.

READ: Fortune Sticks and Moonspinner should be ready for sale by the end of September!!!!

We want to thank everyone for their incredible enthusiasm and for their patience and understanding during the past few months.

The delays were so frustrating, and yet also were to be expected with a project of this magnitude. As most of you know our goal is to truly create an "Elite" line of Tenyo tricks, and as a result this in itself brings forth many challenges.

One of these obstacles was to ensure that we were going to be able to produce a high-level of quality. One of the many reasons for the delays in releasing these tricks was due to the fact that we were having trouble finding a manufacturer that could make items to the quality standards we were demanding, but yet allow us to then sell them at a reasonable price. Add to that the fact that initially we are having a very small number made (yes, supplies will be limited) until we see how well these are received. Most manufacturer's here in north America demand extremely large numbers to be ran so that made things tough as well.

The latest is that we have finally found a company that we are very happy using here in North America, and at a cost that was acceptable to us. While we are getting a very nice product and quality that we know everyone will be very pleased with, it means that our costs are much, much higher.

As it stands now, these first two tricks will sell for the retail price of $100.00 US each. It is possible that the latter two tricks may be slightly higher than that due to their mechanical construction, we don't know yet.

So as everyone knows, with every force that occurs in the universe there is always something that has to "give" or be "pushed" as an opposite reactionary force.

What has now happened is that due to these increased costs on the products from our manufacturer (again, to ensure that we get a great and "elite" quality product for you our buyers), we will not be able to meet our initial plan of selling the tricks through the various magic shops and dealers. Because of the normal markeup that occurs between distributors and dealers the final retail price would no doubt keep these items out of the hands of the average magician and that simply was not acceptable to us.

Understand that while we knew the price on Tenyo Elite would not be cheap, we still wanted everyone to have the opportunity to own one. We did not want to price these tricks out of the range of the average user

At the end of the day, in any business, who is the one that TRULY matters? That's right, the consumer; because it is they who will buy the products and have to be happy. They don't care where they get it, as long as they get a good product and service with a fair retail price. We want our customers to be happy and we are happy to be able to finally meet that goal.

Having said all that, in order to keep the price reasonable (and still maintain quality) we will be selling these products direct from our official site, www.tenyoelite.com. We trust that dealers and consumers alike can understand our position and why we have had to do this-----it is simply economics! Perhaps in the future this will change, but for now that is the only way this will work for us.

Peter, Jason and I have a huge amount of experience in direct sales and shipping products such as Tenyo Elite, and already have laid out a bit of an "infrastructure" to meet with our projected demand. We therefore will be ready to sell these when we receive the first 2 products from our manufacturer at the end of September.

We will be accepting Paypal (which you just need a credit; it is very easy and free to use by the way!), as well as other forms of payment.

We will continue to keep you up-to-date on our official site, on our Facebook page, our MySpace page, YouTube, the Magic Café, and on other various forums online.

In addition we will be sending news and updates through emails to those of you on our mailing list. And by the way, if you haven't joined our mailing list yet but are interested in being amongst the first to know about updates and product information, please go and join right now!

Thank you all for your time and understanding on this. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Have a great day! :)

Thanks for the updates. I've just watched the video comparisons and I like the addition of a case with which to store the items; the additional non-gimmicked Moonspinner is a very nice touch. Good job.

A little higher priced than I was hoping for, although the higher quality construction and laser etching will definitely make these worthwhile purchases on my end. I love the thinking behind the Fortune Sticks, so I'm happy to see those will be one of the first releases. :D
