So I'm working on a routine that closes with Tagged by Rich Ferguson. I"ve been doing the trick for a while now using books and magazines, but I've found that even with the patter I already have to justify closing my routine with books rather than cards, I still find it doesn't flow well. So reworked the trick and use it to place the Ace of Diamonds on my spec. What I really want to do is "allow" them to pick the Ace and then take the card and wave it under thier arm, and when it comes back around, it's blank(gasp!). But I can't come up with any real patter to justify what I'm doing. I don't like the idea of what I currently have and saying
"Now I want you to hold your arm out for me and we are going to try something a little unique." It just sounds forced and gimmicky to me.

So any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know the effect you're talking about, but I don't see the problem with what you're saying for the ace bit - Blaine has made an entire career out of saying "Look" and "Watch" and little else.

Personally I think you don't have to justify every single move you make, sometimes you can just do stuff because it's magical.

true - i always, when controlling a card, do a double undercut followed by a riffle. There is no point in doing the cuts...but nobody questions it
