Sixth Sense

Postby Charles Calthrop » Jan 28th, '09, 17:59

This device is available from Davenports and apparently it was advertised an a recent Magic Circular. I know it's very new but does anyone here have any experience of it at all? Or any information beyond the very sketchy details on D's website?

Thanks.

for £135 quid, id expect the thing to do the trick, buy me a pint, then take me outside for sex!

If all this thing does is which hand is the coin in, I'm sure that there will be better , cheaper, and more reliable methods out there.
as they dont credit a creator, you cant really google it.

if you do try, you get

and the first reference, is a thread on tm, discussing a method in Fulves self working!

Well, strictly speaking it's a utility device along the lines of the Cobra Sharpie but 'under cover' as it were, and much more sensitive. To do that routine would be nice, but I can think of other possibilities too.

Ive had a go with this, its alot of money for what it is, but its great i used it with the scorpion and it really was powerfull from a good distance.

I like the idea but personally dont do enough of these type of effects to invest.

Oops. This turned up on my doorstep this morning.

I'll have a play with it over the weekend and try it out on people in a couple of weeks. Will let you know my thoughts on it when I've properly mastered it.

Seems similar to Matthew Johnson's 'Alone' ($250) and Christopher Taylor 'Eclipse' also $250. I saw these demonstrated recently, very impressive but expensive!!

Now, where did I put my school notes on electronics.....?

Any reviews??

There are numerous gimmicks out there, most of them using electronics or magnetics in order to accomplish a relatively simple bit of business.

You might want to track down a copy of Jerome Finley's "Thought Channel" however, I can assure you that it is well worth the price as well as the time you will need to invest when it comes to making it happen and several alternative scenarios for taking advantage of the same improvisational skill set.

I do find it humorous though... how the name to some noted yesteryear effects have been revived; "The Sixth Sense" was originally a simple cloth bag in which six or so marbles were used, one of which was different from the rest. With the bag behind him, the mage would invite a group of volunteers to withdraw a marble and hold it in their fist. Only the person holding the odd sphere would know that he was it (for real). The marbles would then be replaced and by way of "psychometry" the mage would be able to discern who in the group had the odd marble.

I think I got this thing when I was about 13 or 14 and performed it so often that the poor bag was worn thin. But even in the day it was quite a pricey piece.
