Two years (I think!) ago I saw a fantastic show in Spain by "Magic Unlimited" (if you search this forum you will find a review of this show that I sent in) I was very very impressed with it, in fact I RAVED about it. I originally sent the review to Magic Week for publication, & it was to be published. I also sent a Dvd to Magic week with excerpts of the show. I even said "That Blackpool, should book them for the Blackpool event" in my review!

When the Dvd was viewed by Magic Week, I had a phone call informing me that they could not publish my review, because of the RIP OFF effects that were performed in the show, so no review appeared.

I then published the review on the forums. I had no idea about the rip offs, & even if there were, I didn't understand why a review could not be published.

Anyway On my suggestion, Collin Richardson went to Spain last year to see their fantastic show, with a view of bringing them over to perform the WHOLE GALA SHOW on the SUNDAY NIGHT, so that WAS what was being planned forn 2010! I was to once again produce the show for the Saturday Night.
Negotiations with Magic Unlimited were transferred to their U.K. operations manager, so things have been on hold.

Once this current SEMC convention is over, negotiations would have resumed, this will not now be the case, because they are now appearing in Blackpool!

Needless to say Collin has "Other Things" up his sleeve, because it was never confirmed with Magic Unlimited in the first instance.

So the answer is:

SCROLL DOWN:

KEEP SCROLLING!

JUST A LITTLE MORE!!

"You'll have to wait & see" !!!!!!

"Magic Babe" Ning causes a stir!!

Postby danata » Jan 27th, '09, 10:35

I understand that "Magic Babe" Ning walked into a function at Lakeside last night, to check out the Showroom, & the minute she entered, she got EVERYONE'S attention!!! (a crowd of Chelsea Pensioners apparently!). I've been told that she "OOZED" sex appeal, & that special "Star Quality" the moment she walked into the room. Needless to say there is now a rumour that a crowd of Chelsea Pensioners are contemplating on becoming magicians, & are set to attend the Southern England Magic Convention!

They'd better get their tickets QUICK!!

Which reminds me to say, that TOMORROW (Wednesday 28th Jan) will be the very LAST DAY that tickets can be posted out. After tomorrow, tickets can still be booked & paid for via Paypal, but will need to be picked up on the day. If you intend to go, you can also RESERVE your tickets to be picked up on the door, payment by cash/cheques only ON THE DAY.

All good wishes

Southern Engand Magic Convention

Postby normar » Feb 3rd, '09, 18:21

My wife and I unfortunately were not able to attend any of the Lectures other than Mel Mellors which we found very entertaining and informative, and were only able to spend a limited time in the Dealers Hall. We attended the Convention mainly as a Weekend Break and to see the the 'GALA SHOW' which we enjoyed. When Mike Danata opened the show with COME FLY WITH ME, we thought he was going to be the compere throughout the show, as he seemed to get the whole audience in the MOOD.
We had seen JAMES MORE before when he won the talent show in Bournemouth, and we were still as impressed by his Magic and Presentation. For us the act that made the whole visit worthwhile, was seeing Mike Danata on stage (having seen him before at Plympton, Devon). We enjoyed the relaxed way he sang ‘HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELY THAT I LOVE YOU’. The big surprise for us was the duet he did with the late and wonderful DUSTY SPRINGFIELD, which gave the illusion that her spirit was actually there when the microphone lifted and floated in the air when both were singing. Sadly the lighting was far too bright, and did ruin things a little. At times the acts had no faces.
Unfortunately we were unable to attend the AFTER SHOW PARTY, as my wife had fallen and hurt her ankle.

We thought, all in all, it was a well run convention and was excellent value for money.
