Bad news - Peter McCahon, (the big guy in Monkey Magic) died last night.

I think he was in hospital, but seemed to be doing ok.

You'll be sorely missed, big man....

There seem to be no details on Channel Four news, Sky news or BBC news and his website doesn't mention his passing.

According to the guys on Magicbunny he had been in hospital since Thursday with "chest pains" but seemed to be making a recovery.

No other details yet.

The original announcement apparently came from the Fellowship of Christian Magicians, of which Pete was the European President.

He was only 39. Tragic.

Condolences also to the rest of the Monkey Magic team. It must feel like losing your right arm.

It is always sad to see a beloved member of our profession/hobby/art pass on. Peter will be sorely missed.

Mike.

What a shock. He was my favourite member of the 'Monkey Magic' team, as he had a lot of skill and personality. Rest in peace.

For those that have not seen it, Duncan has updated magicweek, with a tribute page to Pete, giving further details of the events that lead up to this tragic loss.

My name is Carl Pettman, I considered Pete a friend of mine . Pete performed his brilliant show at my wedding, his performance had me and my family in hysterics. I am deeply sadened to hear this terrible news and my condolences got to his family and his friends. His death is a great loss to the world of entertainment and to mankind in general. May he Rest in Peace and keep them laughing up there.

I think it's pathetic that this tragic news has been completely ignored by the media.
Nothing on the TV, nothing in the newspapers.
Only mentioned in the magic web sites.

This guy had class and talent, unlike most of the 'celebrities' that the media are obsessed with.

But it's society's loss.....
