My wife and I unfortunately were not able to attend any of the Lectures other than Mel Mellors which we found very entertaining and informative, and were only able to spend a limited time in the Dealers Hall. We attended the Convention mainly as a Weekend Break and to see the the 'GALA SHOW' which we enjoyed. When Mike Danata opened the show with COME FLY WITH ME, we thought he was going to be the compere throughout the show, as he seemed to get the whole audience in the MOOD.
We had seen JAMES MORE before when he won the talent show in Bournemouth, and we were still as impressed by his Magic and Presentation. For us the act that made the whole visit worthwhile, was seeing Mike Danata on stage (having seen him before at Plympton, Devon). We enjoyed the relaxed way he sang ‘HAVE I TOLD YOU LATELY THAT I LOVE YOU’. The big surprise for us was the duet he did with the late and wonderful DUSTY SPRINGFIELD, which gave the illusion that her spirit was actually there when the microphone lifted and floated in the air when both were singing. Sadly the lighting was far too bright, and did ruin things a little. At times the acts had no faces.
Unfortunately we were unable to attend the AFTER SHOW PARTY, as my wife had fallen and hurt her ankle.
We thought, all in all, it was a well run convention and was excellent value for money.
