Are you sure it's worth it ??

Hmm ...... live with the in-laws for a week or so, or put it off indefinitely ..... hmm, tough choice

(joking by the way - hope everything goes smoothly  ).

QUESTION:
If we can sue McDonalds for making us fat and cigarette companies for giving us cancer; why can't we sue Smirnoff for all the ugly gits we've sh*gged ??

That sound quite reasonable

It's interesting how six plus months of economic downturn can change a quote so much

That sounds like a good quote to me. Good point about the surface mounting though, our house was wired by a surface mount charlie and having trunking running up the walls doesn't look great. Not a huge job to bury it though if you're going to be decorating anyway.

Don't worry, we are definitely NOT having trunking running all over the place. One electrician came round the other day to give us a quote and tried to convince me that trunking would look OK as it would be cunningly disguised to blend in with the surroundings, Predator stylee. I'm not convinced.

I got four quotes in total: £3,500, £2,600, £3,900 and £1,500. Yep, that's what I thought! £1,500! I like a bargain, but not even I would give him the job for that money. I don't know why his quote was so low, but he did arrive on a horse and wearing a stetson....

Haha, I work with electricians, and it's amazing what you see that has to be fixed because of previous 'cowboys'.

The best thing to do is to get an NICEIC registered contractor. NICEIC are the Ofsted of electricians, a pain in the behind because they check up on everything far too often and are overly thorough and health and safety obsessed, but I guess that's a good thing from a customer's point of view. :)

Yeah, I did my research as best I could. This guy is NICEIC approved, so no worries there. By the way, Rachel, you have a slight resemblance to Gillian Anderson.

Hats off to you, most people don't even bother.

And thanks for the compliment, I think Gillian Anderson is great, I can only wish that the resemblance was there outside of a heavily doctored avatar.
