"ZAP" by Hon Wong & Gordon Fang-Wong

Postby gunnarkr » Jan 7th, '09, 15:39

Has anyone bought ZAP?

It's created by Hon Wong & Gordon Fang-Wong – Published by Jay Noblezada

Does it work?
How good is it?
How reliable is it?
Why the "falling down like a sack of potatoes"?

Please review it here in TM!

I had the mis-fortune to watch the DVD (enough said)...and it's 100% BUNK.

Please note this is not really a "review". So thanks in advance for understanding.

In the very 1st part Hon says he will hypnotize you from the video...
then after that he says if it did not work then its "YOUR" fault..JEEZE !

He goes on to instruct you to "LIE" to people and say that you are a "master-hypnotist"...JEEZE !

Then he instructs you NOT to practice on friends/family...just go out and start "doing it".

The "theme" is if you believe your own BULL-**** then others will too.

The only thing "that will fall like a sack of potatoes" is your hope that this works...And the only thing that will be "ZAPPED" is your wallet for spending $150.00 for this DVD (as will your butt from kicking yourself).
**ALSO BEWARE** That several threads on Penguin were deleted/locked after several people implied that Hon made-up his own reviews...and if you look at the product page you will see that the "rave reviews" were made even before it was even released !

I would suggest Reality is Plastic gunnarkr, check the reviews over in the Books section, it's worth every penny.

I know, Lenoir, :) I bought RIP allready and I am convinced it is absolutely 100% what you need, but I was just wondering about ZAP as it hasn't been reviewed here.

I don't give anything for 1st timers ranting off like KConnors, (Kevin Connors from Florida, USA), with no prior posts and no introduction what so ever. He reveals that he knows nothing about hypnosis, but seems to think he knows it all. I know that ZAP is a DVD and a book, he obviously doesn't know of.

I don't want to judge without giving it some chance, so I await some credible reply if somebody knows ZAP.

Having watched the preview, I honestly don't see how ZAP is that revolutionary. It seems like a normal arm pull with minimal pretalk and the line "like a sack of potatoes".

If you read up on the concepts behind inductions, anticipation, shock, loss of balance, etc. Zap doesn't seem particularly special. The Cerbone Butterfly induction or the hand press induction is (probably) at least as effective and quick. Both are basically free for anyone to use since they are taught in many free resources for hypnosis.
Many better investments in hypnosis can be made with $150, IMO.

Currently Reading "House of Mystery" (Abbott, Teller), Tarbell, Everything I can on busking

RE: Zap

Postby CumQuaT » Feb 12th, '09, 04:54

Hi all,

I recently purchased Zap for myself and at first I was extremely skeptical... However, after watching the DVD a couple of times and reading the book that comes with it, I thought I'd take it for a spin. I figured it can't hurt, right?

Turns out it actually works! I figure it'll take me a hell of a lot more practice to get it to the point where I can do it 100% of the time, but I'd say 2 out of 5 times I've attempted it, it has worked.

I get my friends and girlfriend to forget numbers or their surname, even think their eyelids are stuck closed or their hands are stuck to a table.

I will say that it's not for everyone. You really have to be pretty dedicated to get it to work for you, and it's worth every penny to buy other hypnosis books and study study study, but Zap is a great, lightning fast induction that has some really good effects.

But to reiterate, you really do have to put in the hard yards with study and practice. This isn't one of those things where you'll have it mastered after a couple of weeks...

i've heard many an experienced hypnotist warn people away from these techniques...simply cos they can be dangerous for them and for you...

lets pretend i have a girlfriend (i often do) - and i see you use this technique, the very first thing i would do is crush your head like an empty can of coke...

buy anthony's RIP if any lurker is reading this post - he's a great fella, eager to help, knows his stuff and teaches you what you need to know very clearly...

While I love the whole hypnotism thing, I have to ask what kind of certification and standardisation exists in the field (as I know very little about the whole genre). The kids on the videos seem rather young, and while I hate to correlate youth with lack of restraint and responsibility I fear that putting any effective techniques could be used unwisely.

Just a thought.

From what I have seen of Zapped it is dangerous rubbish. Those instant techniques, in the hands of someone half-way competant, can work. But they should not be done as violently as this system advocates.
I have seen a very experienced hypnotherapist do a version of this on my wife, and he nearly dislocated her shoulder. Surely we should treat our audience with more respect than this?

I back up what Tony says 100%.

I am a certified hypnotherapist and I can tell you that you shouldn't buy into the hype surrounding products such as this.

Learn WHY and how hypnosis really works and you wont end up looking like a complete moron when you have yanked quite hard on someones arm and they are looking at you thinking WTF are you trying to do. Plus you wont have to keep buying products like this (please keep the name Jonathon Royal at the top of your stay away from list).

The reason this product was priced so high is so people who dont know much about hypnosis would think they are getting something of value. What I will say about Hon is he seems to be a nice guy with a savvy brain for sales, and yeah, he does know his stuff.... But the guy has no sense of moral responsibility.

Rarely have I come across such a rip off on the market, and it was clearly aimed at kids (anything for sale on penguin pretty much has that stamped on it... Not sure if Screwyoulussionist had it as well? Surprised they didn't).

Without getting all preachy, and without giving a class on hypnosis here I will simply give this advice to anyone with an interest in hypnosis:

Like a very good magic trick, it is not at all what it looks to be, there are so many subtleties at work, and once they are properly grasped and understood, you then can become a good hypnotist rather than walking around like a simpleton shouting SLEEP!! at everyone.

And as Tony says, we need respect for our audiences, try pissing them off and treating them badly and see how long you continue to get gigs.

Rant over..... Silly Hon 8)

I've seen this DVD as well and I think the last two posters are absolutely right... It's possible to get someone under hypnosis after you've seen this DVD. Though, as The Magi says, if you know a bit about hypnosis, you know you don't have to use it this way.

It's really important that you learn to use it in a responsible way, not in the way this DVD teaches you... Speaking of responsibility, I think they spend far too less time on this subject (which people shouldn't you hypnotise?).

I don't recommend this one :)
