i bought one of these babys when they first came out. There great.

The best routine ive come up with is .......

One boozy night in my local, i had a card selected. it was torn up.
i asked the guy to go into the gents with me.

then into one of the stalls.

he took the torn up card, wrapped them in a piece of loo roll, dropped them into the loo, and pulled the flush.

as soon as the pieces dissapeared around the bend, the lid of the loo slammed shut.

and there stuck on the top, was his card. restored... and wet.


How?

I decided to do this off the cuff.

I gave my mate the dupe, and asked him to lick the back of the card, and stick it onto the lid of the loo.This was done whilst i was keeping the guy busy choosing the card.

and thats all there was to it.

having the card wet with spit was a bonus. Because the bit he kept was still dry, yet fit.

it was years ago, but he still talks about it.And so do his mates, and they wernt even there.

It is a great gimmick. I had trouble finding one until I mentioned it on here. There seems to be no one in the UK who stocks them anymore. Perhaps trying for a second hand one via other forums.

Just thought I'd add that

I have my own version of this with a prepared deck. All you need is something called a French Curve which you can buy from any good art shop. They can be made of metal or plastic. And a sharp art knife.

Get the spectator to select any card and you start to tear it. You only need to do a quarter of the card. Corner, middle or wherever you have prepared. Once started you can even give it out for the spectator to finish. It tears the same every time.

You then take any other card from the pack and tear it in roughly the same place, and the bit you tore off is an exact fit as theirs. Or use a matching card from wallet, envelope or wherever.

Nice thing with this is you don't have to carry a gimmick around. The pack is the gimmick.

This has been another annoying situation in which I find it incredibly difficult to find someone who'll do something that should be simple.

Firstly, I'll say that I've really tried to find somewhere to buy this and can't - not even second hand (which doesn't benefit the creator either...) - so I think at this stage it's reasonable to have something similar made for myself.

But administration, computer systems and general company inflexibility strikes again. I bl**dy hate it. There don't seem to be any manufacturers or tradesmen who take something, use their own tools in their own workshop, and shape it into something else. The actual gimmick should be incredibly easy to make for a metal worker, probably out of a bit of scrap or something. Yet because everything is so... gah... official, and automated, I have to submit my designs by email, they then treat it as a full comission... I'd have to pay for courier delivery rather than pick it up from the industrial estate nearby... it just becomes too expensive.

Why are there not more places you can just go, have a chat to old Joe about what you want, and he'll knock something up for you in his lunchbreak for a few beers and card tricks?!

As a hypothetical exercise and leaving the cost element to one side for now. If one was to start producing these, what if any, would the patent issues be?

Its lazer cut. the one i have, is the same as the one everybody else has. Thats the point of it.

I may be wrong, but I seem to recall that the intesessor has a patent against it.

If you make your own, you will get caught out.

I'm looking into contacting the makers. Maybe try to arrange a licensing deal or something. I have also contacted a friend who works in the US patent office to see what they can find out for me.

There does seem to be a reasonable demand over here and they aren't exactly knocking themselves out to meet it.

I've never seen one of theirs. I have made my own gimmick that does the same thing, it might not even resemble the Intercessor for all I know.

It works like a dream.

the intercessor is available. it might not be easy to find, but never the less you can get them.

I'm still going to talk to the makers about it. Compare notes and see what they say.
