Faking It

Postby bananafish » Dec 15th, '04, 14:42

I believe that there is a Special 90 minute edition of faking-it due out (over Christmas?) whereby the person faking-it is a systems analyst who has to pass as a professional magician. On the team of judges trying to spot the fake will be Mr. Paul Daniels.

Hmm. I missed that one.I went through the radio times with a very fine comb.
I bet it's on new years day.

Thinking about it, that’s going to be a tough one.Nearly every magician I know who works in the IT buiseness is a systems analist, or something close to being one.
The idea behind faking it is taking someone who has no interest or ability and transforming them. So, this little programe will show once and for all that we have no skill, and do somethng that anyone can do. Thus exposing the biggest secret in magic.
Presumably also exposing Thumb tips, palming, and other tools along the way!
It will need a close eye on it.

Interestingly enough many top magicians used to work in the IT industry: Alex Elmsley, Roy Walton, Paul Wilson etc

If you hear any more on the date and time of the show - please would you post the info?

I'm sure this programme would be a hot discussion point afterwards, particularly if there are a lot of revels as Dale has suggested might be the case

I'm assuming that it's on Channel 4?

Faking Confirmed

Faking it is on Channel 4 at 10pm on 27th March (Easter Sunday). It's quite a good watch, so I've been told. There will be interviews in some TV mags with the faker. TV Times definitely.

The faker has since quit his day job in order to pursue magic as a full time career. He thoroughly enjoys his new line of work and hopes to add to the profession.

He now regularly performs in a Glasgow restaurant and also at the Comedy Club in Edinburgh.

It is the best choice I've ever made. I've utterly no regrets.

Best Wishes, Kevin

Dave

When I was a kid I had a Paul Daniels kit.
I did find magic facinating, but I'd not really done magic since then. However, like most I was very facinated by it. I watched the mainstream shows and have/had a great respect for magicians and their art.

It's great, to be honest. I love being part of it.
