I just thought i would share MY thoughts on Blackpool 09. Ofcourse im not infallable, so these are only my opinion.
LECTURES
Latko. I liked his matrix routine , although he did flash a bit, this was down to nerves. I knew what he meant about applying a theme but i personally felt he lingered on this too much. It was nice of Paulo to translate last minute.
Michael Ammar.- I missed this lecture as i was napping in the hotel room and overslept -lol. Im gutted as i think Michael is great. I have seen him lecture twice in Bpool and once in Paisley.
Joshua Jay - well, what can i say, i have never been jealous of anyone. EVER, but i gotta say, Josh has made the green eyed monster turn up. Whats not to like from this very talented magician.
Daniel Garcia - At this moment, Danny Garcia is my favourite magician, his work is innovative and great to perform, those of you who dont already own the Ultra Gaff deck i suggest you do so. There are miles and miles of material in there. I do have to say however i was not too chuffed with David Blaine showing his face during the lecture. It almost felt like he was stealing Danny's thunder. I feel that magicians like Dg and JJ are the true stars, Blaine is the past.
Marc Oberon - PURE AWSOME!!!! - Enough said.
GALA SHOW - Sunday.
If i see another manipulation act im going to poke my eye out with the stick left from my white chocolate magnum.!
However, the final act took me by surprise, Magic Unlimited. up until the final illusion i was not too impressed, the final swtch however was very well done.
Tony Chapek - I have seen Tony's act a few years ago at blackpool, i would love to see something new from Tony. However, it has to be said that his act is the most original i have seen.
Jerome Murat - I love this act, its simply wonderful!! I noticed a few changes this year, did anyone else notice?? It is different slightly right? or did i imagine it?
Im sure in his last one he did not float up when grabbing the head and im sure previously when the head emerged from the box it was very dark and scary, this time it was more . . . i dunno.. non scary.. lol.
Jeff McBride - truly one of the nicest people i have ever met. The man is legendary, however i do honestly think that we could have seen better from him. Sorry Jeff, im just being honest.
Rudy Coby - I really was not too impressed with this act. It was very short and i felt it was rushed slightly. Needs some polishing.
Other thoughts
My only other thought at this time is the idea that BMC could produce a DVD of ALL lectures and sell it (discount for all Tm members! lol). If this is already being done then im sorry for being a nimrod.
Any, just some thoughts, not saying they are correct, just my little opinion.
