What stage magic is there that is extremely visual. I realize there's flash paper, appearing canes, vanishing candles, etc. Those just somehow don't seem to be what I'm looking for...I've been looking for a while for something that's flashy and cool yet at the same time visual. Every time I find something that I like it's to expensive or there are only horrible reviews for it.

I know Talk Magic is biased (In a good way) towards mentalism and close up with cards. This is not always true but, for the most part, the members that contribute the most are either close up card/coin workers or mentalists.

Are there any stage magicians on here who have effects that are flashy and visual, require no presentation (It's a long story why there has to be no presentation. Actually it's not so much long as it is me not wishing to go into it at the moment)that they can recommend and personally vouch for (as I've grown to trust the reviews given on talk magic)? Or am I asking to much out of an effect.

This may sound like my other post "MMMM food" but I assure you, for the most part, it's entirely unrelated.

(I have a tendency to ask a lot of questions, yet provide little and return. This is my last question for a while and I hope to contribute more in the future. )

What about classics like linking rings, some rope work - Fibre Optics, some change bag work, zombie of some form....classic items have stood the test of time and usually for good reason.

How aboout D'Lites,; vanishing and/or appearing cane or candles; 20th century silks, just to suggest a few.

silks or ropes are very visual. I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'no presentaton', all magic requires presentation, it could be good or bad but there has to be presentation. Do you mean patter? If so then rope and silks couild be done silently.

Ropes are very good on stage, I'd totally recommend Tabary's DVDs for some really nice routines. Of course there's always linking rings and silks too.

When Ian says "no presentation", I think he means that it doesn't require any comment from the performer. He's after effects that are flashy, suitable for stage, and will be self-explanatory when performed.

There have been some good suggestions so far, but I'll add Leopard Silk (often marketed these days under other names - it's a silk where the spots either fall off, or appear on a plain handkerchief). Also Crystal Tube, which could be used as part of a Sympathetic Silks act.

Silk to rose?

A vanish accompanied by a flash (either a flash product, or something like the FISM Flash)?

The Zombie Ball that has LEDs all over it? (I think it's called Z'Ball.) You could combine it with D'Lite's, as suggested by Peter.

I like the idea of linking rings, rope routines, appearing canes, and vanishing candles but... this might sound unusual but... I've already performed those for this audience. The only "stage" experience that I get is an average of twice, sometimes one or two more times a year. I generally perform for one audience, friends and family. I know they are not the best people to perform for but it's the only way I'm able to do so on a regular basis. All the above mentioned routines are great Ideas but... I've already used most of them. 20th Century silks, I actually own and am performing earlier in the show. I however, don't own a polka dot silk/ leopard silk, I think I'll get that. Is there a video of the effect anywhere so I know what I'm actually buying?(So much bingo...)

Have you done Miser's Dream yet?

No...haven't done very much coin magic but I do know basic sleights of coins and I could probably learn the one in bobo's over six months. Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I think I have what I needed now...unless anyone has a video of polka dot silks.

Alexander de Cova's "Enigmatic" DVDs (two DVDs, sold separately but make a set) include some showy stage tricks, all of them pretty easy, including an audience-participation one with silks, a nice rope routine, and a practically sleightless version of Miser's Dream (you'll kick yourself).
