The illusionist film

Postby coolguydudeman » Mar 1st, '09, 23:34

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of the tricks in the film Illusionist staring edward norton could actually be performed.

I have heard the one with the ball dropping in slow motion from hand to hand is one of these, If possible could someone tell me where i would go about learning it.

The one where the card rises out of the packet and hovers in motion would be so cool :)

Many thanks!

The orange tree, complete with butterflies, was performed by Robert Houdin - I think some say it goes back even further.

However, I suspect that it didn't look quite so smooth and CGI-perfect...

You can buy one if you've got, ooh, a lot of money to spare.

Thank you for your reply, What about just the slowing down of the orange when he drops it? Do you know what the name of that trick is? Ive seen it performed on a youtube video. But no name.

Thanks again.

I've not seen it, but I suspect the one on YouTube is called "playing with slow-motion video effects". :D

I imagine that some IT would make this possible. It's been a while since I've seen the film, but there's no reason you could not use it to slow down and stop a 'falling' object.

well, it looked better. John Gaughan has totaly reconstructed Houdins original, and you can see Paul Daniels performing the effect , with Houdins original aparatus, on youtube.

the butterflies dont fly away from the bush, but it still looks most magical.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....
