Similar to how now everyone I know is listening to Biggie, since the Notorious B.I.G film came out, pretending they've always been big fans.

"I want to do magic...but I don't want to be referred to as a magician." - A layman chatting to me about magic.

about now is where some elitest comic geek jumps in and says something along the lines of "you're only reading it because there's a film of it!".

I love those guys

Actually, as an elitist comic geek I'm jumping up and down screaming 'I had to pay £50 for a hardback watchmen comic because it hadn't become popular and mass produced for H.fuckingM.V yet!'

And then all these people who wouldn't be caught dead reading comics five years ago are paying £10 for the privilege.

Gyaaaagh!

Well, you have got 5 years worth more of reading out of that than anyone else so that's got to be worth something!

I'm seeing it on IMAX too, yay! It looks awesome, can't wait.

Yes... "graphic novel". Otherwise known as a "picture book"

I will be seeing this, although I'm not expecting incredible things - surely it's just going to be a big, sluggish, Hollywood CGI-fest?

I don't bother calling comics 'graphic novels', in my mind it just sounds like trying to justify something shameful.

I call them all comics and when someone say's they're for kids I throw 'From hell' at them and say 'Go on then, read it.'

But I don't mind about it being made into a movie. Of course it won't be as good as the comic, it can't be, there just isn't the time. But as long as the point of the comic comes across clearly, I don't mind. (I know, big of me isn't it? I bet Zach Snyder is thrilled.)

Although, come to think of it, a big part of me is still screaming 'They don't deserve it! They don't get to mock comics and marginalize us, then enjoy the greatest masterpiece of the genre without appreciating the original art form!
b******s! Damn thieving b******s!

If the film as half as good as the graphic novel, it will be quite superb. While I'm on, I would also highly recommend From Hell by Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell and Blankets by Craig Thompson. Blankets is something different to the usual superhero thing and very good.

 It is precisely as true as that statement!

Pictures can indeed paint a thousand words, thus removing from the "reader" (or "looker", in the case of comics) the responsibility of imagining it all...

Hey, I love comics - got addicted to them a while back (X-Men mostly). I hear the Kama Sutra is a good one too.

Not 18 but still going to see it... Thursday at Midnight! Yay!

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.
