Card To Wallet - I Want to purchase one but still confused!

Postby The Last Deck on the Left » Jan 13th, '05, 15:07

Hi Guys!

Firstly, I know a lot has been written here, I've read all the posts, but I'm still confused.

1) Palm or No-Palm wallets. As a fairly new begginer I'm just learning to Palm. Done the relevant section in the Royal Road, and gaining confidence with their tricks. So should I buy a "Palm" wallet?

Can you buy a Palm and No Palm wallet as one item?

I've looked a photos of No Palm wallets, and looking at the back can guess how they might work. Do specs twig onto this?

2) I've got Heirloom on order and have read lots about the Heirloom Wallet. Is that a necessity with that trick? Does it double up as a Palm / No Palm wallet.

I don't really want to spend more than £50 - but if I buy the right item that is going to last for many years, - I could be persuaded to spend more if necessary.

So any advice - or recommendations?

One I've been looking at is MagicTricks.co.uk Card to Hip Wallet.

Thanks guys, and sorry to bring this topic up again!

Yours Confused,

:?

I use Tom Mullica's wallet (no palm) and I'm very satisfied. I always end my close-up performance with it and the people love the effect

palm/no palm

I agree completely. Mullica's wallet is terrific,a nd I have seen (haven't we all?) card to wallet performed a million times. Who cares if you palm it or if you don't palm it?

If your presentation is solid, and your direction of attention (notice I didn't say "misdirection"?) is strong, you end up with the same effect.

I personally believe that, done well, a no palm method is much more deceptive than a palm method...but that's just me. You ahve to do what you are comfortable with, and that will be what is right for you. If you feel yourself pulled in a particular direction, for whatever reason, that's where you need to go.

Allright, then.

The best wallets are made my Jerry O'Connell (www.leatherjerry.com). I've been using mine for about thirteen years now, and it's still fab.

Jerry makes a whole range, from normal palming wallets to no palm, card in envelope and combo wallets that do everything. I can't recommend them enough.

As for learning to palm, I suggest you try to track down Michael Close's Power of Palming video, Workers 3 or the new John Carney palming DVD (I've not seen the latter, so I can't comment on it).

Hope that helps,

Ian

Carney

For the record, the Carney Video on palming is excellent. That guy can palm a truck without you catching him. Seriously, a truck.

Hi.
Long have I hesitated about what wallet to purchase (palm or no palm, kaps or Lepaul...etc).
And actually I decided that a Palm wallet would be better, since palming is essential in all magic, it is quite "stupid" to back out of a trick because you need to palm ONE card. If you are not comfortable with palming... than practice ! ;) (that's what I did).
I ended up buying a regular wallet with a zippered compartment, and using a cutter. (My home-made wallet uses the Load principle, with a old credit card painted black as a guide).
At first, when i wasn't to comfortable to load my palmed card, I simply used misdirection (I would make a joke, or say something funny, and simply put the Pen that the spectator chose to sign the card away into the same pocket where my wallet was, and load the card).
An alternative, is to perform the Mercury Card fold, and f**ger palm the card folded in 4ths, (wich is easier than the f*ll palm).

I hope I helped you.

ps : I bought my wallet for 7 $, and "gimmicked" it alone, whereas the pre-gimmicked wallets are MUCH more expensive, think about it) ;)
