What do you guys know that they don't?

So you know the routines of "almost all the top magicians"? Or are you just making a hyperbolic assumption fuelled by your own opinion?

In my limited experience I've never found a signed card to play stronger than a regular selection. If you present yourself correctly it shouldn't even come up, surely?

Oh, please argue semantics and ignore my point. That's sensible.

OK, in tricks where a card travels somewhere, or ambitious card, anniversary waltz etc good card men have cards signed.

Why do they do this do you think?

Are they stupid and are you brilliant?

Do you have a theory about why it's better to NOT sign the card? If so, please share that.

Thanks.

So you actually offer them a solution to the effect before you start?

Interesting approach.
