I bought the mighty MNEMONICA a few days back and have very nearly got the deck memorised. The two that keep throwing me for some reason are the 38 - 10 of Hearts and 49 - 10 of Diamonds. Just a bit more work and it should all be sorted, but those two are proving a pain for now!

Just out of interest were there any particular cards that gave you more trouble than the rest? And can you go from number to card and from card to number equally well? Card to number takes me slightly longer at the moment.

Can't wait to have the whole deck sorted and start performing the ACAAN and "any poker hand" stuff. Tamariz is the man - respect!

Exposure! :D

Oddly, I had trouble with 3 - 7D. I tend, even now, to get 49 and 50 muddled.

I made a deck up with the stack numbers on the back so I could shuffle the cards out of stack sequence then test myself. You stop being reliant on the order itself, then.

You have to be careful to avoid memorising in patterns or sequences - like "oh yeah the 5S comes after the 6S" - because then you are screwed if you have to go straight to one particular card. I test myself by trying to remember the pack in aces, then twos, then threes, etc - anything to avoid just going in a fixed order from 1 to 52.

To remember 50 I wrote 650AP on the card. It worked for me!

Sonata is a brilliant piece of work. It's my favourite book by Tamariz, closely followed by Mnemonica.

I have used it for a while, so in general I'm alright with all the numbers.

Don't underestimate the practice needed for the ACAAN Stoner, it has to be 100% invisible, which is a lot harder than you think.
