tom tom point of interest - magic shops

Postby cragglecat » Apr 9th, '09, 06:49

How many 'real' i.e. bricks and mortar magic shops exist in the UK? Would anyone find it useful if we compiled a list of them for general use but also to create a Tom Tom 'points of interest' file - that way whenever tom tom sat nat users visited a new town they could check to see if there was a magic shop near by. I really need to get out more but would anyone else find this useful?

Craig.

It would probably be useful to some, check the Magic Shops link at http://www.ipswichmagicalsociety.co.uk/linshopuk.htm for an indication of bricks and mortar magic shops.

Hmm...I've created a POI file from the addresses given by Mandrake. It looks complicated from here! I'll test it on my own sat nav to see if it works and if it is a hassle to do anything beyond this I may just make the file available to any TM users that want it.

So all we need to do is link a cruise control to TomTom, tie in to our online credit card details, and a dash of CUPS and we'd have no more guilt about buying stuff!

I had the same idea when we got a TomTom for Christmas. Since we always seek out local shops when we are travelling somewhere. Would be interested in the POI file if it is working. NB some of the shops on the shop finder are no longer in business as bricks and mortar shops...

I've created a point of interest file (.ov2 file extension) and it seems to work OK. Does anyone else want it? If people can give me shop names and postcodes I can update the file because it is currently based on the list Mandrake gave me and some of them may now be closed....

Craig.

p.s. install the file at your own risk and don't blame me if it causes any problems!!

Can anyone let me know which (if any) of these shops are no longer in existence? Are there any ommisions that I should add to the list?

Thanks,

Craig.
