So, this is a brief introduction of me then! =)
My name is Micke Askernäs, I'm 36, and also Swedish.
This year, it's 30 years ago since I got a magic box as a gift from my grandparents. My grandfather was also the one who taught me card tricks when I was as young as 3 years old, and I guess that it is due to him that I'm here writing this today ! =)
So. I've sortof done magic for 30 years.
Well , not really .. the magic box, and whatever hobby books I could find at the local libraries kept me going for a few years, and I gave it up until I was .. what? .. 18 I think.
At that point, I got fed up with things and eloped a week to London, just to get away from things. No hotel, no nothing I just left.
I found a really crappy cheap place to stay, but what made that trip memorable for me, was a guy on the lower floor of Funhouse at Leicester Square. He sold beginner's magic tricks.
So.. I pretty much bought whatever I could afford, which included a Svengali Deck, a Blank Deck, the little thing with the brass caps and coins, and prof's nightmare.
Now, almost 20 years, I can look back at a on and off profesional career as magician, with a long hiatus inbetween.
These days, I have given up on the magic part (apart for household needs) and focus wholeheartedly on Mentalism.
Naturally it's Derren's fault.
I've been doing mentalism now and then in my shows since 2005, but about a year ago, I took the decision to focus only on Mentalism.
Seems it paid off. I entered a competition here in Sweden, mostly to pinpoint myself as a mentalist to other magicians, and I ended up Swedish Champion of Mental Magic 2009.
So, at this moment, I am working on lectures in Bizarre magic and "my path to mentalism" for magic clubs, which is a lot of fun! A full evening show in the fall of 2009 is also in the plans. Still working on what effects to include, and how to get a good pace throughout the entire thing.
Apart from the magic bit, I do enjoy travelling, I'm an avid scuba diver, and also got a past as a popstar

So.. that's me!
I'm a nice person to have around, although there have been complaints that cutlery is never the same after I've visited some people

I look forward to becoming an active member with lots to read and lots to give on here as well, as I have been for some time on that other, green board!
Feel free to drop me any pm if you got any questions at all ! =)
