Ive not had a chance to watch the trick section yet, but intend to tonight.
For me, two items stood out as being rather special. Firstly Mike caveny's tour of his wonderfull egyptian hall collection, ...( honestly given the choice, you would want to die in this room) its heven for anybody with an interest in magic.. it's all there from wands, posters, letters, coin ladders, and Doug Hennings shoes.

the second outstanding item, was David Regals review section. In this edition, Dave tells it like it is, with some scathing reviews of a collection nof tricks with a simalar theme, and an identical flaw. Also, of note is his review of an Oz pearlman effect, which it is claimed, is new, and move free...

its not new, and yes youve guessed it. there is at least one move.

indeed, in corespondance with Dave, i know know where i can find the effect... in mark wilson. :)

i found the section with Whit Hayden facinating, and his final pea move wonderfull.. ( but then having met whit, he can do no wrong in my eyes :) )

Garret thomas's pinky coin palm on the other hand.. its a nice move, but even he sugests that its not really practical for the real world. It's more of a move for the camera.
youtube magicians will love it.

you're like Yoda.you dont say much, but what you do say is worth listening to....

Alexander De Cova's coin effect is also excellent. Beautifully simple with some lovely subtleties.

It was disappointing to hear about the Oz Pearlman effect being not quite as described. If you bought a new TV and it was advertised as having a feature that you subsequently discovered it didn't have, and was also actually not new but secondhand, you would get a refund. But this is never the case with magic products. It seems like creators and dealers are free to "embellish" with abandon and the unsuspecting customer is, on occasion, left with the feeling of being conned.

I know it can be difficult to describe some effects without giving the game away, but if it's not new, don't say it is. Credit where it's due. If it involves a move, don't say it doesn't.

Sometimes I think Ellusionist and Penguin may as well join forces and be done with it.

(Thank you to Mike Danata for sending out a replacement DVD to me so quickly, after mine escaped from the flimsy spindle in transit and got very scratched and unwatchable).
