You may know how half of it works, but it's the performance that makes him as popular as he is.

I see this show last night and I didn't think the first half of the show was that great apart from the last effect, I found one of the effects confusing and I heard a few others say the same thing but the last effect of the first half really set the mood for the second half of the show Derrens more dark and twisted side which he seems to like doing a lot lately. Now the second half of the show was really Derren at his best great effects, great entertainment with his great witty sense of humour thrown in. The finish was Derrens normal also showing how he predicted half the show before it all happened but with a great effect that built up to it. It just made me see how well he built that effect up and gave me some ideas of me own which is alway's nice. Overall a solid 9.5 out of 10 losing 0.5 of the marks because of the confusing part at the begining. Also right at the end theres a big surprise which was just unbelievable and IMO doubled the power of the effect. Brilliant nights entertainment. Well done Derren and team.

He's called Magic Necmi, and he will tour UK with his TT, soon. (Just kidding :) ) I'm glad you find him irritating, cause I think that too.

He is the reason I started doing magic. So it doesn't matter if I know how it's done, I like to see how he's doing..

Seems like many people are enjoying the new show, looks like Derren's best. Here's a photo from rehersals. Andy Nyman and Derren Brown are rehersing the final trick of the Enigma Show. (Taken from the Derren Brown Blog):

Saw it with Beardy on Sunday night. The second half was better, but I don't want to belittle the first half in any way. The first half was a bit choppy, in that the individual items were... well, individual, with less flow from one to another. The second half made a more coherent whole.

At the stage door afterwards I heard DB mention to someone that he thought the show had more or less gelled into its final form.

Personally, I saw the final surprise ending a long way off, but that's probably because my chosen profession has honed my mind in certain directions. (Sorry that sounds so cryptic, but I don't want to give anything away.) Judging by the general audience reaction, it caught most or all of the others by surprise.

Derren is a lovely, lovely man and I won't hear a word against him. But with suitable bribery I might be persuaded to reveal what he has for breakfast.

I was wondering if anyone who's seen the Enigma tour yet can help me. I've got two tickets to watch it in Manchester but I need to know who to take with me, and the problem is that although my g/f likes Derren, she doesn't like anything "squeamish" - for example, she loved the Evening of Wonders tour, but hated the 'nail-in-nose' and 'face-in-glass' bits of 'Something Wicked', and she was on edge for most of EoW in case he did something similar.

So, my question is - without spoiling anything - does he do anything that's likely to make my g/f feel a bit queasy, and should I take a friend instead? Anything illusions around blood/pain/ect. Scary/Spooky/confusing/ect is all fine :)

Thanks in advance,
Zen.

The ending totally caught me out, there were hints through the show and I wondered where he was going with it but I wasn't quite expecting that.

ZenithUK, your grilfriend should be fine, there's nothing squeemish, a little eirie perhaps but all done in good fun.

There's certainly nothing squeamish or queasy. Most of it is light and fun. One of the effects is quite moving and might bring a tear to the eye. There's also an hypnosis segment and a seance bit (similar to the spirit cabinet part of the "Seance" TV special) -- some people were obviously finding these rather spooky. The tone then lightens up again for the last sequence, so everyone goes out laughing and humming a tune.

Weve tickets to see Derren in North Wales this May, and im terrified as we're sitting near the front. We saw the show 2 years ago and it was just fantastic thou', but something did happen and I stupidly squealed . So im hoping this time I wont make my self look very stupid. I did manage to meet Derren after the show which was lovely, but strange at the same time

He was frisbee mad when I went. Great show, yet not my fave.

Now if only my girlfriend could catch a frisbee she'd have gone up on stage at the end of the first half and walked away with a nice little souvenir for her trouble. But nope, she droped it into the lap of the woman in front.

I am going to be seeing Derren in Reading towards the end of May but my friend has just offered me a ticket for tonight in Bournemouth so now I'm getting to see him twice :-)
Was trying to avoid getting too excited as it was a month away but now I am really looking forward to tonight.
Has anyone else seen he do the same show live more than once.
How was the experience the second time?
I enjoyed watching 'Something' and 'Wonders' live and then seeing them again on TV. Gives you a different perspective.
